‘Your Honor’ Korean Adaptation With Son Hyun-Joo Reveals First Clip
Yes Studios has unveiled the first international clip from the Korean adaptation of its hit global scripted format “Your Honor,” which launches this week.
The first two episodes of the 10-part series just dropped on the KT Genie TV platform and will next roll out on the Korean network ENA later on Monday.
“Your Honor” has already been adapted in 10 international markets, including the U.S., France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey, India, Croatia and Russia. Yes Studios is currently negotiating several more format deals for “Your Honor,” including another in Asia.
Produced by Monster Company (“Han River Police” for Disney+), the Korean adaptation was written by Kim Jae-Hwan (“Boyhood,” “Collectors”) and was produced by Kim Yong-Gi (“Han River Police,” “Long Live the King”). The series’ award-winning directors are Pyo Min-Soo (“Moon in the Day,” “The Third Charm”) and Yoo Jong-Sun (“Pale Moon,” “Designated Survivor: 60 Days”).
The Korean adaptation of “Your Honor” stars Son Hyun-Joo (“Captivating the King,” “The Good Detective”), who plays the leading part as the judge opposite Kim Myung-Min (“Law School”), Kim Do-Hoon (“The Escape of the Seven”), Heo Nam-Jun (“The Impossible Heir”) and Jung Eun-Chae (“Pachinko”).
Originally titled “Kvodo” when it launched on Yes TV in 2017, “Your Honor” is a legal thriller telling the story of a respected senior judge whose son is involved in a hit-and-run accident, leading to difficult choices and consequences as he attempts to protect his son. “Your Honor” was created by Shlomo Mashiach and Ron Ninio, with Shlomo Mashiach as the writer and Ron Ninio directing. The original series was produced by Koda Communications and Yes TV.
Sharon Levi, Yes Studios’ managing director, said that “Monster Company has successfully produced a high-end, dramatic and thrilling series” and that the collaboration “marks another step for Yes Studios into the APAC region,” where the company is planning further “strategic developments.”
“A parents’ unwavering need to protect their children is one of the most powerful universal themes there is, and when coupled with a storyline of this calibre, it is no surprise that ‘Your Honor’ continues to appeal to international producers and broadcasters looking for a classy, proven drama to remake locally,” Levi continued.
