Hilary Swank has signed on for a recurring guest star role in “Yellowjackets” Season 3, Variety has confirmed.

She will appear alongside cast members Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Lauren Ambrose, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves. It was previously announced that Joel McHale will guest star in the new season.

No premiere date has been set for Season 3 of the popular series at the time of this publishing, but the new episodes are currently in production. Season 2 aired in early 2023, with Paramount having renewed the show ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

Swank won the Academy Award for best actress for her roles in “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Million Dollar Baby.” Her other film work includes “Freedom Writers,” “Logan Lucky,” “Ordinary Angels,” and the HBO film “Iron Jawed Angels.” She recently led the ABC drama series “Alaska Daily” and previously starred in the Netflix sci-fi drama “Away.”

She is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman.

The official description of “Yellowjackets” says the show is the “saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”

“Yellowjackets” was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The show has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards to date, including two nods for Lynskey for outstanding lead actress in a drama. Lyle and Nickerson serve as showrunners and executive producers on the show along with Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine serves as executive producer along with Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon. Lionsgate Television produces.

Deadline first reported Swank’s casting.
