Snoop Dogg Performs at Olympics Closing Ceremony With Dr. Dre
Snoop Dogg spent much of the 2024 Olympics contributing to NBC’s Games coverage, and in proper form helped bring them to an end with a performance during the closing ceremony.
The rapper ran through a rendition of “Drop It Like It’s Hot” on the L.A. beach in front of elaborate sandcastles before he was joined by Dr. Dre on a nearby stage for an energetic performance of their hit “The Next Episode.” They were part of a lineup that included Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and H.E.R. The performance was a nod to his hometown roots of Long Beach, as the 2028 Olympics are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Snoop was on hand from the very start of the Olympics, carrying the torch on its final leg towards Paris. He ran through the streets of Saint-Denis, a north Paris suburb home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.
Throughout the Games, he had a consistent streak of viral moments, namely due to his reactions to the competitions and his commentary. He cheered on the women’s gymnastics team and rubbed elbows with the athletes; commented on Badminton matches; picked up swimming lessons from Olympian Michael Phelps; did affirmations with gymnast Suni Lee; took a private tour of the Louvre; and watched a horse named Gin & Juice. As the Games came to a close, he gave a Death Row chain as a gift to Simone Biles’ father for his birthday.
The legendary artist last released his 19th album “BODR” in 2022. He is currently at work on his upcoming album “Missionary,” which will reportedly be produced by longtime collaborator Dr. Dre. Though details are scarce surrounding the project, 50 Cent said that he would be featured on the project.
