Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is seeking medical treatment after his onstage altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro at the band’s Sept. 13 concert in Boston, according to the singer’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell.

In a message posted Saturday on Instagram, Etty Lau Farrell thanked “all the dears that have taken the time to send us such beautiful words of love and support.” She then called the Jane’s Addiction singer the “gentlest of souls.”

“We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are — but you must know that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limit,” Etty Lau Farrell wrote. “To that end we apologize.”

She continued, “We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with [an] otolaryngologist and a neurologist.” In an earlier Instagram post following the onstage outburst, Etty Lau Farrell mentioned that the Jane’s Addiction singer “had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night” prior to the Boston show.

At the Jane’s Addiction concert on Sept. 13, crew members restrained an agitated Perry Farrell after he threw a punch at guitarist Navarro. Days later, Farrell apologized to his bandmates and fans for his “inexcusable behavior,” hours after news broke that the second half of the band’s reunion tour was being canceled.

In a statement shared with Variety by a representative, Perry Farrell said: “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
