Oasis Streams Surge on Spotify Amid Reunion Rumors

Shortly after rumors started swirling that an Oasis reunion is potentially on the horizon, listeners flocked to the band’s catalog on Spotify, running up streams in a significant surge.

From 9-11 a.m. UTC this morning, Oasis streams on Spotify increased over 160 percent globally versus the week prior, and the increase has continued to grow through this morning, Variety can exclusively report. Fans are returning to the music after rumors circulated over the weekend that Oasis’ Liam and Noel Gallagher would be performing in the United Kingdom in 2025, with a supposed 10-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The oft-feuding brothers seemingly confirmed that a reunion is indeed on the horizon, with both posting a cryptic clip teasing that something will be taking place on Aug. 27, 2024 at 8 a.m. That will likely be an announcement of performance dates, as Liam further fanned flames in posts on X.

“I never did like the word FORMER,” wrote Liam. When one user complained that Oasis would be playing at Heaton Park in Manchester on account of it being a “terrible venue,” Liam replied, “See you down the front you big fanny.”

Oasis formally disbanded in 2009 after Noel left the band, with each brother pursuing respective solo careers in the years that followed. This past April, Oasis was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which would have led to a reunion if the band was inducted. But Liam swiftly shut down that possibility.

“Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS,” Liam Gallagher wrote on X at the time. In another post, he said of his brother: “The little fella loves hanging out with celebrities so he’d prob go; as for me I’m washing my hair and having a pedicure and a manicure.”

This past June, Liam headed out on tour in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ debut “Definitely Maybe,” with a reissue scheduled for release this Friday.
