Menendez Doc and Ryan Murphy Series Lead the Charts
Netflix continues to draw strong viewership with content surrounding Lyle and Erik Menendez.
True crime documentary “The Menendez Brothers” was the the most-watched title on the streamer during the week of Oct. 6-12. Premiering on Oct. 7, it hit 22.7 million views in its first six days of availability.
The film benefitted from recently increased attention on the brothers, drummed up by real-life developments in their case as well as Ryan Murphy’s scripted series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” Having premiered on Sept. 19, the series is in its fourth week on the Netflix Top 10 and remains popular, landing at No. 3 with 8.7 million views.
The two TV titles to beat “Monsters” were Season 4 of “Outer Banks,” which debuted No. 1 with 15.5 million views in its first three days of availability, and “Nobody Wants This,” back at No. 2 with 9.6 million views after debuting there and then spending one week in the top position. “Outer Banks” will certainly spend an extended period on the Netflix Top 10; in addition to its already established popularity, only the first five episodes of Season 4 premiered on Oct. 10, while another five will debut on Nov. 7.
