Jon Bon Jovi ‘Persuades’ Woman Not to Jump Off Bridge, Authorities Say
Authorities in Nashville have confirmed Jon Bon Jovi helped save a woman’s life after persuading her not to jump from a bridge.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said the musician helped persuade an unidentified pedestrian to safely come off the ledge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (formerly the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge). The department also posted a video clip of the alleged interaction to YouTube (it has since been removed), with the video circulating widely online.
“A shout out to @jonbonjovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tue night. Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety,” the Nashville PD said in their social media post, adding a quote from Chief of Police, John Drake: “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
The video posted by authorities is pixelated but allegedly shows Bon Jovi and an unidentified member of his team speaking with a woman who is standing on the outer ledge of the bridge. After a few moments, the pair pick up the woman and place her back on the walkway.
A representative for Bon Jovi did not respond to Variety‘s request for additional context.
CNN reports that the confrontation occurred as Bon Jovi was filming a music video on the bridge. They also cite Nashville authorities who claim the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation shortly after the interaction.
