What To Watch
‘I’ve Got Lots of Ideas’
New music from Kate Bush could be on the way.
In a rare interview with BBC Radio 4’s “Today” program, the elusive artist said she is “very keen to start working on a new album.”
Bush spoke to the BBC’s Emma Barnett about a new short film, “Little Shrew” — set to her 2011 song “Snowflake” — that she wrote and directed to raise money for children in war-torn countries. When asked if she was working on new material, Bush said, “Not at the moment, but I’ve been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together.”
However, she continued: “I’m very keen to start working on a new album when I’ve got this finished. I’ve got lots of ideas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time.”
Bush’s last release was her 2011 record “50 Words for Snow.” Since then, the 66-year-old musician gained a whole new generation of fans when her 1985 single “Running Up That Hill” was used in a prominent scene in Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” But she continued to keep a low profile and did not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony when she was inducted in 2023.
However, Bush told the BBC that “particularly [in] the last year, I’ve felt really ready to start doing something new.”
As for performing live again, Bush said she’s “not there yet.” Her last time on stage was in 2014 for her “Before the Dawn” residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
