Hope Davis, Branka Katic, Aya Cash Join Reagan Drama ‘Reykjavik’
As “Reykjavik,” a look at a critical summit between the U.S. and the Soviet Union that helped determine the fate of the two superpowers, begins shooting in Iceland this week, the drama has brought on Hope Davis, Branka Katic and Aya Cash. They join the SK Global feature, which has already lined up an impressive ensemble that includes Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan, Jared Harris as Mikhail Gorbachev and J.K. Simmons as Secretary of State George Shultz.
Davis, who appeared on Broadway opposite Daniels in “God of Carnage,” will star as Nancy Reagan. Katic is set to play Raisa Gorbachev, wife of the Soviet leader, and Cash has been tapped to portray a young journalist covering the Reykjavik Summit. Production officially commenced Tuesday on location in Reykjavik, where the cast and crew started filming in and around Höfði House, the actual site of a 1986 meeting that happened as the Cold War had reached a dangerous point. Reagan and Gorbachev’s decision to chart a different, more peaceful course had profound consequences for both their countries and the world.
Michael Russell Gunn (“Thai Cave Rescue”) is writing, directing and producing the film. John Logan Pierson is also producing. Additionally, 2521 Entertainment has come on board to produce and finance the film in partnership with SK Global.
Davis can next be seen in the Apple TV limited series “Before,” alongside Billy Crystal, as well as in Wes Anderson’s upcoming feature “The Poenician Scheme.” She most recently starred in the Showtime series “Your Honor,” as well as in the second season of HBO’s “Perry Mason.” Other credits include “Succession,” “In Treatment,” “American Splendor,” “Asteroid City” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
Katic is a Serbian actress who gained international acclaim with her role in Emir Kusturica’s film “Black Cat White Cat,” which enabled her to start working abroad. This led her to work in “Warriors,” “Breaking and Entering” and “Public Enemies.” Katic was also in the HBO series “Entourage,” “Bored to Death” and four seasons of “Big Love.”
Cash can currently be seen starring in the HBO comedy series “The Franchise,” and next year, she will star in and executive produce “The Boys” prequel series “Vought Rising” for Amazon Prime. Cash most recently appeared in the Hulu limited series “The Girl From Plainville,” the Showtime limited series “The First Lady” and in the Fox comedy “Welcome to Flatch.” She has also appeared in “The Boys,” “Fosse/Verdon” and in the films “We Broke Up” and “Scare Me.”
Davis is repped by UTA and Kipperman Management. Katic is repped by Agents Associes, Conway van Gelder Grant, Slavic Artists Management, and Leverage Management. Cash is repped by UTA, Industry Entertainment, and Paul Hastings.
