‘Down Cemetery Road’ Series at Apple Adds 10 to Cast
Apple TV+ has rounded out the main cast of its upcoming series adaptation of the Mick Herron novel “Down Cemetery Road.”
Adeel Akhtar (“Fool Me Once,” “Sherwood,” “Ali & Ava”), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (“Culprits,” “Candyman,” “Femme”), Tom Goodman-Hill (“Baby Reindeer,” “Rebecca”), Darren Boyd (“Trying,” “The Outlaws”), Tom Riley (“The Woman in the House,” “The Nevers”), Adam Godley (“The Great,” “Breaking Bad,” “Succession”), Sinead Matthews (“Hullraisers,” “The Crown,” “The Power”), Ken Nwosu (“The Winter King,” “Killing Eve,” “Black Doves”), Fehinti Balogun (“A Gentleman in Moscow,” “Dune: Part One,” “I May Destroy You”), and Aiysha Hart (“We Are Lady Parts,” “Colette”) have all been cast in the series.
They will appear alongside previously announced leads Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson.
The official description for the series states, “When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Tucker (Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Thompson). Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”
Akhtar will appear as Hamza. Stewart-Jarrett will play Downey. Goodman-Hill has been cast as Gerard, and Boyd has been cast as C. Riley will appear as Mark, while Godley will play Joel Silverman. Matthews will play Denise, a.k.a. Wigwam. Nwosu will appear as Rufus, with Balogun as Amos and Hart as Paula.
This is now the second adaptation of Herron’s books to get the series treatment at Apple, with the other being the popular spy series “Slow Horses” starring Gary Oldman. That show recently picked up nine Emmy nominations, including one for best drama series.
Morwenna Banks, who is a writer on “Slow Horses,” will serve as lead writer and executive producer on “Down Cemetery Road.” Thompson will executive produce in addition to starring. Herron is also an executive producer on the series, along with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Tom Nash at 60Forty Films. Natalie Bailey serves as lead director.
