Colin Jost, Michael Che to Host Peacock’s First Live Comedy Special
Peacock is getting into the live comedy business and tapping “Saturday Night Live” stars Colin Jost and Michael Che to host the event. “Colin Jost & Michael Che Present: New York After Dark,” the streamer’s first-ever live special, will air on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
The “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update duo will host the event from The Bell House in Brooklyn. Peacock did not announce any performers beyond Jost and Che, only describing the guests as “Colin and Michael’s favorite NYC club comics, fresh faces, and maybe even some names you already know and love. Watch live to see who hits the stage. Special guest appearances will feature both up-and-coming and established comics in New York.”
A house band, the Grammy-nominated musical ensemble 1500 or Nothin’, will accompany performances throughout the special.
“Colin Jost & Michael Che Present: New York After Dark” comes from Jost’s No Notes Productions and Che’s 7F Project; the reps the first project coming from both new entities. Exec producers of the special are Jost, Jeff Grosvenor and Emily Hason of No Notes Productions; Che and Rachael Edwards of 7F Project; and Rikki Hughes of Magic Lemonade. Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, serves as the studio. Hughes is also the showrunner, while Michael Mancini is directing.
