CAA Sports Promotes Alexa Cook, Rob DeAngelis to New Leadership Roles
CAA is doubling down on its commitment to sports with the promotion of two key executives to leadership positions.
Alexa Cook has been named global co-head of CAA Sports property sales, while Rob DeAngelis was appointed Chief Revenue Officer of CAA Sports.
In her new role, Cook will work in partnership with Rob Slocum, who was named global co-head of CAA Sports property sales in 2021. Together, Cook and Slocum will lead the agency’s property sales team, who work on behalf of clients including Formula 1, Oracle Red Bull Racing, LA Clippers, Riot Games, the Premier League and USTA.
DeAngelis, who previously held Cook’s new position alongside Slocum, will now be responsible for generating revenue across all 19 divisions of CAA Sports, including property sales, CAA ICON, Brand Consulting and CAA Evolution.
“We are proud of the tremendous work of the entire CAA Sports Property Sales team, who consistently deliver results for our best-in-class clients,” said CAA managing director and president of CAA Sports Paul Danforth. “Alexa Cook is among the most accomplished and highly regarded sports sponsorship executives in the world. She has deep relationships spanning many industries; she is smart, strategic, respected and admired; and we are excited for her to partner with Rob Slocum to guide the efforts of this industry leading team.”
Danforth continued, “Rob DeAngelis has been a leader and top revenue generator for CAA Sports Property Sales for more than a decade. He is a creative thinker, whose innovative approach and tenacity, has fueled his ability to bring landmark, non-endemic partners into the sports marketing landscape. Rob’s relationships are second to none, and we are excited for him to create unique revenue opportunities for clients in all areas of CAA Sports.”
Cook joined CAA Sports in 2010 as an assistant before being accepted into CAA’s agent trainee program in 2011 and being promoted to executive in 2013. In 2020, Cook was instrumental in the creation of the Thunder Fellows program, an initiative with the Oklahoma City Thunder designed to unlock new opportunities in the sports, technology and entertainment industries for Black students in the Tulsa area.
DeAngelis joined CAA Sports in 2010 from Van Wagner Communications, where he served as general manager of the Sports group. DeAngelis joined Van Wagner in 2002. Both Cook and DeAngelis have been recognized on the Sports Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40,” which honors the best young talent in sports business.
Olivia Montella and Francesca Verbini, appointed global co-heads of Property Solutions in January 2023, round out the leadership of CAA Sports Property Sales. Montella and Verbini work closely with Slocum and Cook, leading partnership and creative strategy on behalf of CAA Sports property sales clients globally, with Montella based in New York, and Verbini in London.
