Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Needs One Piece of Merch in the Vein of Horizon, Stardew Valley, Minecraft

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would be a perfect choice for a merchandising opportunity that several other games have benefited from. The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s biggest properties, and Tears of the Kingdom was one of the biggest games of 2023. The series in general, and Tears of the Kingdom in particular, are perfect sources for merchandise. In fact, there’s one particular idea that seems like it could be an excellent companion to the series. With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the argument in its favor is stronger than ever.

The amount of things to do in Tears of the Kingdom makes it one of the deepest Legend of Zelda games to date. The freedom to use Link’s Ultrahand ability to build incredible creations is the most well-known, but Hyrule’s other attractions shouldn’t be ignored. Link has the freedom to embark on plenty of side missions, ranging from fighting monsters to going on investigations. That’s even without the various collectibles in the game, such as finding all the Koroks scattered across Hyrule. With so many things for players to do in Tears of the Kingdom, the game has a lot of potential for merchandise.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Could Inspire an Excellent Cookbook

Licensed Cookbooks Are an Increasing Source of Video Game Merch

One of the most fitting recent merch releases was the official Stardew Valley cookbook, and for good reason. Cooking, especially using ingredients the players grew themselves, is a highly memorable part of the game. However, it’s far from the only game to have its own cookbook. The Elder Scrolls, Minecraft, and World of Warcraft are among the several games to receive cookbooks. Even games with no cooking mechanics, such as Street Fighter, have received official cookbooks, showing their appeal as merch. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a strong argument to be the next game to benefit from this trend.

A major argument in favor of a Legend of Zelda cookbook is Tears of the Kingdom‘s cooking mechanic. In Tears of the Kingdom, Link has the opportunity to collect ingredients to create a wide variety of recipes, many of which sound rather appetizing. A Tears of the Kingdom cookbook could collect many of the recipes that Link can create and adapt them for real kitchens. With how many recipes Link is able to cook in-game, there would be plenty of options available. After all, there’s a natural draw to being able to cook the same kinds of meals that Link does.

A Zelda Cookbook Could Chronicle Dishes From Across Hyrule

A Tears of the Kingdom cookbook could also draw inspiration from other sources. Recipes inspired by the various races of The Legend of Zelda, specifically those from Tears of the Kingdom, could prove interesting. Recipes could range from meals crafted by the Gerudo of the desert to those enjoyed by the Gorons in the mountains. In addition to potentially offering several different styles of food, it could offer a bit of creative world-building for fans. A Tears of the Kingdom cookbook could gain a lot from covering food from across Hyrule as well as Link’s own campfire recipes.

So many games have cookbooks now, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom could definitely pull it off as well. It goes without saying that Tears of the Kingdom can influence future games in The Legend of Zelda franchise. At the same time, its potential to bring about a cookbook shouldn’t be ignored. Link’s own cooking combined with dish concepts from across Hyrule would provide plenty of inspiration. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of potential for a cookbook that Nintendo could definitely capitalize on.
