Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Players Are Drowning Their Enemies
Key Takeaways
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom players can use Bind and the Water Block Echo to drown foes efficiently.
- The titular echoes allow Zelda to create copies of different objects, and the Bind spell allows her to drag enemies over hazards.
- The drowning trick only works on smaller enemies and in places where Water Blocks can be summoned.
Although players of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom can fight enemies in various ways, some social media users demonstrated the power of Zelda’s Bind ability and the Water Block Echo. By dragging an enemy with Bind over a Water Block, Echoes of Wisdom players can instantly kill some foes and trivialize some encounters.
As the first mainline game in the Legend of Zelda series to feature its titular princess as the main playable character, Echoes of Wisdom allows players to solve puzzles and defeat foes through creative methods. By using the Tri-Rod to claim echoes of different objects, elements, and monsters, Zelda can conjure them to deal with challenges as players see fit. This creativity has proven to be a hit with fans, as Echoes of Wisdom sold over 200,000 copies in Japan during its opening week, which beat out the sales of 2019’s Link’s Awakening by a margin of 50,000 units within a similar timeframe.
While previous Zelda titles like Tears of the Kingdom allowed players to torture certain characters, Echoes of Wisdom‘s mechanics can be utilized for efficient kills. A Reddit user named K0ks3nw4i shared a short video on the r/EchoesOfWisdom subreddit that demonstrated what happens when an enemy is dragged into a Water Block. In their video, K0ks3nw4i conjured a Water Block Echo near a Moblin outpost in the Gerudo Desert, and used the Bind ability to drag three unsuspecting Moblins through the Water Block, which caused the porcine foes to suffer a swift and watery demise. However, this trick can only be done in areas of Echoes of Wisdom where a Water Block can be summoned and only works on foes that are small enough to be dragged with the Bind ability. Flying enemies can also be dragged through a stack of Water Block Echoes, which can be placed on top of one another.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Players Use Bind and Water Blocks To Instantly Kill Enemies
- Echoes of Wisdom players utilize the Bind spell and the Water Block Echo to instantly drown foes.
- The Bind spell allows Zelda to drag specific objects and enemies over different hazards.
- The trick only works on smaller enemies and places where a Water Block can be put down.
- The Water Block Echo can be learned in the Jabul Waters Rift during the early part of Echoes of Wisdom.
To get the Water Block Echo, Echoes of Wisdom players must travel to the Jabul region in northeast Hyrule, where the River and Sea Zora call home. After subduing Lord Jabu-Jabu and gaining access to the Jabul Waters Rift, players can claim the Water Block Echo just before entering the Jabul Ruins dungeon. Both the Gerudo Desert Rift and the Jabul Waters Rift can be done in either order after sealing the Suthorn Forest Rift.
Whether used to easily dispatch foes or conquer dungeons, the titular echoes in Echoes of Wisdom are among the most creative game mechanics in the Zelda franchise. What echo combinations players will discover next remains to be seen.
