Xbox Selling Starfield: Shattered Space-Inspired Controllers
Key Takeaways
- Xbox offers new Starfield: Shattered Space-inspired controllers through Design Lab.
- Custom controller designs inspired by the expansion feature unique pink and purple hues.
- Bethesda aims to bring attention to Starfield with the expansion, hoping for a surge in player engagement.
Xbox has showcased new design templates on the Xbox Design Lab website, which give a nod to the recently released Shattered Space DLC for Starfield. With new bosses, factions, and weapons, among other things, Bethesda plans to rejuvenate Starfield with the new expansion that just came out on September 30.
When it comes to custom controllers, Xbox is one of the major names as it frequently releases controllers with a new look or with a special edition theme. Just recently, the console giant revealed its new Ghost Cipher Xbox controller, and there are already rumors of another new controller being on the way. However, before any of those options hit the shelves, Xbox has made available Starfield: Shattered Space-based controller templates for players to use.
As spotted on Xbox Design Lab’s homepage, there are two unique controller templates inspired by Starfield‘s Shattered Space expansion. One of them is a solid color design for the standard Xbox Series controller, whereas the other is a transparent design for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Players can click on the “Design Elite” or “Design Standard” buttons right under the DLC-inspired templates to pick and start further customizing any of the two designs. Without any additional customizations, the standard version would cost buyers USD 87.96, and the Elite version would cost USD 159.98.
Starfield: Shattered Space Controller Templates Are Available Now
Both the controller design templates bear similar pink and purple hues inspired by the Shattered Space expansion. However, they only bear color themes and no other design detail, like the Constellation markings featured on the special edition Starfield Xbox controller. These differences separate the special edition accessories at the time of the game’s launch from the simpler design templates available right now. Besides Shattered Space-themed controllers, more controller designs based on new games, including Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, FC 25, and Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP, are also up for order.
Now that the Shattered Space DLC is out, it will be interesting to see how that benefits Starfield‘s growth. Keeping in mind that the game’s player count has been on the decline over the past months, Bethesda would hope the new expansion hits the ground running by first boosting those numbers. Understandably, the developer-publisher would also want the DLC to have an impact somewhat similar to the levels of Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring‘s case. Over the next few weeks, it may become clear whether Bethesda’s attempt to bolster Starfield with Shattered Space‘s launch is working or not.
