This article contains slight spoilers for One Piece’s Egghead Arc.

One Piece is chock-full of some of the most impactful moments in animation. From heart-wrenching declarations of freedom to tear-jerking deaths that changed the series forever, these impactful moments help keep fans tuning in after nearly 30 years of publication. However, more than anything else, One Piece has some glorious and impactful action set pieces littered throughout the series.

Specifically, while fight scenes have their place in One Piece, nothing can beat the impact of a single solid punch. While a full-on fight scene can be a major moment in the series, a single well-implemented punch can hold the same, if not more, weight. Although there are many strong punches, only one is truly the best punch in all of One Piece.

The Best Punches In One Piece Are Strong And Impactful

The Punch Should Have Great Art As Well

To be considered as one of the best punches in One Piece, the punch must contain only one single blow. This means that attacks like Luffy’s Gum-Gum Jet Gattling in Enies Lobby will not be considered as a single, impactful punch. Additionally, for this consideration, the punch shouldn’t include any enhancements from Devil Fruits and should rely on the raw power of the one throwing the punch.

The best single punch in One Piece should include a few specific elements. Firstly, the punch should feel weighty, both physically and emotionally. Additionally, the art of the punch should emphasize just how impactful it is in the story of One Piece. Finally, and most importantly, the punch needs to feel satisfying in some way to the audience.

Luffy Punching Bellamy Was A Turning Point In The Series

This Punch Proved That Luffy Shouldn’t Be Messed With

One Piece Luffy VS Bellamy
  • Luffy Punching Bellamy Is A Great Moment
  • Luffy Punching Charlos Is An Impactful Scene

Firstly, the two runners-up that weren’t quite the best punches in One Piece are Luffy’s punches against Bellamy and Charlos. For the Bellamy punch, after having to endure both physical abuse and taunting from the far weaker pirate, many of the audience wanted to see Luffy finally take Bellamy down with his full power. However, instead of using his Devil Fruit, Luffy simply delivers an extremely satisfying punch, catching the Spring-Spring Fruit user off guard and denting his face. Seeing Luffy defeat the boastful pirate with a single punch was extremely satisfying, especially due to the fact that Luffy was being largely underestimated by his opponents. Plus, this moment marked an important shift in the perception of Luffy, officially marking him as someone who shouldn’t be messed with.

Luffy Punching Charlos Was Very Satisfying

This Was One Of The Weightiest Punches In One Piece

Luffy Punching Charlos

Next up, Luffy’s punch against Charlos created one of the most satisfying moments in the series. After the One Piece Celestial Dragon shot Hachi and attempted to buy Camie, Luffy had enough and attacked Charlos with a single amazing punch. This attack feels extremely weighty and is drawn with a gorgeous visual. Additionally, this punch was also an impactful and important catalyst that would eventually lead to the separation of the Straw Hat Crew. However, despite the sadness it would cause, seeing Charlos’s body fly across the room after a single base-form punch from Luffy makes it all worth it.

Kuma Punching Saturn Is The Best Punch In One Piece

This Punch Carried So Much Emotional And Physical Weight

Kuma Punching Saturn

However, the best punch in all of One Piece would have to be Kuma punching Saturn during the Egghead Island Arc. This punch is arguably the most satisfying in the series, carrying the years upon years of abuse that Kuma has endured for the sake of others. Seeing Kuma’s rage translate into a beautifully connected punch against one of the Five Elders is an unforgettable moment in the series. Outside the emotions of the punch, Kuma’s punch also looks incredibly good and is drawn extremely well. Finally, this punch helps relieve the massive amounts of emotional tension that were created by Kuma’s tragic past.

I’ll happily accept any fate, so long as Bonney is cured! – Kuma

While there are many amazing punches in the story, the best punch would have to go to the former Warlord, Bartholomew Kuma. However, the real best punch in the series is mainly up to personal preference, as many emotional factors go into the decision. Still, it’s incredible that One Piece has so many amazing moments that would make strong candidates for being the best punch. Though Kuma’s punch is arguably the best, almost every punch in One Piece carries a high level of emotional and physical weight.
