Warcraft 3: Reforged – The Defense of Strahnbrad Walkthrough

While there is the prologue campaign that helps set the scene for the rest of the story of Warcraft 3: Reforged, the Human Campaign is the first major part of the story. In this campaign, players are introduced to Arthas Menethil, the Crown Prince of Lordaeron. It’s been many years since the Second War, and peace has returned to the Kingdom of Lordearon, but new threats loom on the horizon as the words of the Prophet go unheeded by King Terenas Menethil II.

The first mission of the Human Campaign, The Defense of Strahnbad, teaches you the basics of controlling Arthas and using his powers to support your troops.

Head to Strahnbrad

After the cutscene, you will have just Arthas and a few knights under your command. There is nothing you can do here, so head south along the road. Eventually, the road splits in two.

If you go along the northeast path, you will come across what appears to be a villager with a quest for you. As you get closer, you will be ambushed by bandits. As a paladin, Arthas can heal your forces, so keep an eye on their health and use Holy Light to keep them alive. You don’t have to kill these bandits, but it is a good way to get some EXP for Arthas.

As you progress toward Strahnbrad, you will come across some villagers who will offer a side quest. The farmer, Gerard, needs help getting his ledger back from the bandits. If you want to take care of this side quest first, go southeast toward the direction of the bandit camp.

There are only a handful of bandits at the camp, and they won’t be difficult to deal with. Keep an eye on the health of your units and heal whenever one of them starts to get low on health. Pick up the ledger and the mana potion, and then head back to Gerard to give him the ledger. Upon completing this side quest, you are rewarded with a Tome of Strength that permanently increases Arthas’s Strength by one.

Defend Strahnbrad

As you arrive at the gates to the village, you will see a villager get killed by a couple of orcs. Take out the orcs and then head into Strahnbrad. As you proceed further into the village, you will find more orcs.

When you get to the other side of the square, you will trigger a cutscene. Head northwest where there is a larger orc on a stolen horse. This unit has much more health and deals a lot more damage. Try to focus on taking out the orcs that accompany him and then focus all your forces on the large orc. Keep your forces alive by using Holy Light and you will have successfully completed the first mission of the Human Campaign once the cutscene is over.
