During the Spill developer stream, Iron Gate Studio introduced players to a major update of Valheim’s cooking system called The Bog Witch. This update will allow players to prepare a variety of meals using ingredients they find in different biomes. These meals will serve multiple portions and provide longer-lasting benefits compared to regular food, allowing players to host big feasts. From a Swamp Dweller’s Delight to a Plains Pie Picnic, the new dishes reflect the different regions of Valheim. Additionally, a new “Cooking” skill is being added, so players can level up their culinary abilities. As they get better at cooking, they’ll be able to reduce the time it takes to prepare food and even make extra servings. Players will also be able to upgrade their Viking kitchens with new workstations, such as a Food Preparation Table and a Mead Ketill.

Along with the update to the cooking system, a new character in the Valheim Swamps biome has been introduced: the Bog Witch. She lives in a wooden hut, acting as a vendor who sells rare potions, spices, and crafting materials. The Bog Witch lets players trade gold for items that can be used to make tonics, meads, and drinks. These can boost important stats like strength, dexterity, and endurance, giving Vikings an extra advantage during their adventures. Finding the Bog Witch’s hut isn’t easy, and players will want to approach carefully since her broom can be aggressive.

To go along with the new cooking features, the Bog Witch update is also adding tools to make Valheim’s farming mechanics more efficient. A new Scythe tool will let players harvest crops faster, while a Farming skill will reduce the stamina needed for using the Cultivator and increase the chances of getting extra crops when harvesting.

The update will also bring two new building pieces for decoration, along with new crafting materials like Cured Squirrel Hamstring and Powdered Dragon Eggshells, which can be bought from the Bog Witch herself.
