Upcoming Xbox Series X Games

upcoming xbox games

At this point, the Xbox Series X/S is a known commodity that has amassed a pretty respectable library of games, covering both major AAA projects and indie darlings. Microsoft opted for a dual-tier system for this generation, offering the high-end Xbox Series X alongside the more budget-friendly Xbox Series S, with the latter being digital-only. Game Pass has continued to flourish over the last few years, with any Xbox console exclusives typically debuting directly on the subscription service.

The last few years have produced plenty of fantastic games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands were all good or great 2022 releases, and they offered wildly different experiences from each other. The year’s successor largely followed suit with projects like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. Meanwhile, 2024 produced big games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. What upcoming 2025 Xbox games are the most exciting? Which titles are expected to drop in 2025?

Please note that the focus is on the North American release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed.

Updated January 22, 2025 by Mark Sammut: While the year still has a long way to go, announcements of new releases are starting to sprinkle through. The upcoming Xbox games were added to the scheduler over the last week: Dragon Takers, Mark of the Deep, PGA TOUR 2K25, Eldrador Creatures Shadowfall, Sports: Renovations, Sworn, Accolade Sports Collection, College Football 26, Mika and The Witch’s Mountain.

Xbox Games Coming Out In January 2025

Tales Of Graces, Sniper Elite, & More

Due to starting slow, January is not typically among the most packed months of the year in terms of releases; however, the 2025 edition has a couple of exciting projects scattered throughout its second half. Tales of Graces f Remastered brought one of the franchise’s best games to modern consoles, making it far more accessible. While the story has its issues, the combat is generally regarded as one of the JRPG genre’s best. For those who prefer to demolish armies of enemies, Dynasty Warriors: Origins should satisfy that criteria, and it is one of the better entries in the divisive series.

Bandi Namco’s Synduality: Echo of Ada is an extraction looter shooter with mecha, a fun combination. Eternal Strands is an action-adventure game that looks impressive from its trailers, offering colorful visuals and flashy combat. More importantly, the project will debut directly on Game Pass, and the same extends to Sniper Elite: Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector.

Xbox Games Coming Out In February 2025

Avowed, Monster Hunter, Civilization, & More

Building on the slow but steady start of its predecessor, February 2025 should be massive across all systems. With the financial year ending in March, publishers tend to get any remaining big releases out in the preceding weeks, resulting in a month that feels overstuffed with major names. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Civilization 7 are set to launch on the same day, although they will likely attract fairly different audiences. Both games should require significant time investments, and they are likely to keep players engaged long after February comes to an end.

Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered has the tough task of modernizing and revamping three of the more polarizing entries in the franchise; if done right, Angel of Darkness might finally be worth playing. Avowed is Xbox’s big console exclusive for February 2025, with the RPG seeming to be Obsidian’s biggest endeavor to date. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii should be a fun and action-packed detour for Sega’s franchise, and February will come to an end with Monster Hunter Wilds. Just an exhausting month, in the best possible way.

  • February: Dragonkin: The Banished (XBX/S)
  • February 4: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (XBX/S)
  • February 4: Rogue Waters (XBX/S)
  • February 6: Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator (XBX/S)
  • February 6: Big Helmet Heroes (XBX/S)
  • February 6: Luck be a Landlord (XBX/S)
  • February 6: Moons Of Darsalon (XBX/S)
  • February 11: Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 (XBX/S, XBO)
  • February 13: Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate (XBX/S, XBO)
  • February 13: Slime Heroes (XBX/S)
  • February 14: Afterlove EP (XBX/S)
  • February 14: Assassin’s Creed Shadows (XBX/S)
  • February 14: Date Everything (XBX/S)

  • February 28: PGA TOUR 2K25 (XBX/S)

Xbox Games Coming Out In March 2025

Suikoden, Tales Of The Shire, & More

Although still early days, March 2025 has a couple of notable upcoming Xbox games already. Two Point Museum should be among the year’s best management games, assuming it comes close to matching the brilliance of Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus. JRPG fans will be eating well throughout the month, starting with Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster, a compilation that should offer great value for money. Atelier Yumia seems set to be an interesting evolution of Gust’s franchise. While its quality remains to be verified, Tales of the Shire sounds fantastic on paper.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been through a few delays, but it seems set to finally launch in March 2025. Ubisoft’s Japan-based project has not enjoyed the smoothest pre-launch life, but it could come together in the end.

  • March 2025: Football Manager 25 (XBX/S)
  • March 4: Carmen Sandiego (XBX/S, XBO)
  • March 4: Two Point Museum (XBX/S)
  • March 6: Eldrador Creatures Shadowfall (XBX/S, XBO)
  • March 6: Split Fiction (XBX/S)

  • March 10: Warside (XBX/S, XBO)

Every Major Video Game Release Coming Soon For PC

The PC scene never rests as games are always launching on Steam. Here is every upcoming major PC game set to debut in 2025 or later.

Xbox Games Coming Out In April 2025

Fatal Fury & More

April 2025 is still a long way off, so its game lineup has just barely begun to take shape. That said, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a huge announcement, at least when it comes to the fighting genre. SNK has been producing gold for decades by this point, and the upcoming release seems set to be a culmination of all that work.

For other confirmed releases, Mandragora should be a fun 2D Soulslike, a genre that has become slightly overexposed in recent years. Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is an isometric action RPG, and Poppy Playtime Triple Pack is a horror compilation.

  • April 3: Poppy Playtime Triple Pack (XBX/S)
  • April 17: Mandragora (XBX/S)

Doom: The Dark Ages, FBC: Firebreak, Little Nightmares 3, Marvel 1943, Borderlands 4, Dinos Reborn, and Mafia: The Old Country could define 2025, assuming they are not delayed.
