Vegeta showed just how potent the Great Ape form could be in the right hands, crushing Goku’s bones and earning a decisive victory at the end of their conflict. If Gohan and Krillin hadn’t come along to help the protagonist, Goku would’ve been toast at that very moment.

The first appearance of the Legendary Super Saiyan form is something fans remember fondly to this day. Regardless of how illogical Broly’s motivations were before he got retconned, seeing him transform into a foe stronger than anyone had ever seen was a terrifying moment, and it was followed by a beatdown for the ages.

This made it that much more disappointing to see that this imposing threat was done away with a single punch at the end of the movie. That said, the Legendary Super Saiyan form continued to make waves as one of the scariest transformations in Dragon Ball. Even in Dragon Ball Super, this form is still quite scary despite the threat being toned down just a smidge.
