The Executioner is the third Void Intercept boss after you beat the Dead Bride in The First Descendant. Unlike other Void Intercept bosses, the Executioner isn’t resistant to all kinds of weapons and instead has a weakness for Burst-type weapons. Most of the attacks in its arsenal include Electric-type attacks, making it essential for you to have sufficient Electric resistance.

Executioner Resistances

As mentioned previously, the Executioner has tons of electric attacks, making electric resistance an absolute necessity. Specifically, you should have at least 900 Electric Resistance in Normal mode. This value skyrockets to having at least 7,000 Electric Resistance if you’re challenging this boss in Hard mode. Because of this, the Executioner is very weak towards Toxin attacks, so having Toxin ATK modifiers is great for your weapons.

Executioner Weak Points

The Executioner has a unique body design, which, unlike other Void Intercept bosses, makes it very easy for you to target its weak points. Removing or destroying these points can help you deal additional damage as well as stagger the boss momentarily. Here’s a complete list of all the weak points of the Executioner:

  • Sensor (Destructible) – Located on its Head
  • Core Cover (Destructible) – Located on its Chest
  • Balancer (Destructible) – Located on its Knees
  • Core (Removable) – Located on its Chest
  • Shoulders (Removable) – Located on its Shoulders

If you are unsure about the weak point locations on the Void Intercept boss, you can
use your character’s Ecive Scanner
to spot all the weak points as well as get the status of the rage bar.

Executioner Attacks, Explained

The Executioner features multiple attacks, some of which can be annoying to deal with, while others might one-shot you. To ensure that you don’t get KO-ed unexpectedly, here’s a complete list of all the attacks from this Void Intercept boss, and how you can counter each of them:

  • Electric Laser: The most common skill of the Executioner is the Electric Laser, aimed at the closest player. This attack doesn’t deal burst damage but constantly delivers electric damage, inflicting a shock debuff. It doesn’t destroy structures, so you can take cover behind them or grapple away to dodge.
  • Electric Orbs: The Executioner fires large electric orbs from the blasters in its hand. These orbs slowly track the player and explode upon proximity. They also don’t destroy structures, but your best bet is to grapple as far away as possible.
  • Electric Slash: The Executioner raises its sword and delivers a front slash, causing heavy electric damage in a cone-shaped area. Although it’s an AoE attack, it deals significant damage, and most Descendants caught in it will be knocked out. This attack destroys most structures as well, so keep your distance.
  • Electric Slam: The Executioner leaps into the air, causing the screen to flash white. You’ll be teleported into the air and fall into a blue zone where the Executioner drops down, dealing massive electric damage. It’s a one-hit KO if you don’t escape the blue zone in time. The best way to dodge is by spamming dashes or grappling out as quickly as possible.

Apart from these, the Executioner also spawns
multiple mobs called Kingfishers regularly
. You should get rid of these as soon as possible to get ammo refills and HP drops.

Executioner Rage Mode

The Executioner gets into an enraged state when its rage gauge (pink bar) fills up. This bar can fill up quicker if you’re either using weapons with Electric ATK modifiers or there are mobs called Hummingbirds behind the Executioner which accelerate the rage fill-up.

During this state, the Executioner deals greater damage and is immune to all sorts of attacks. You can end this mode by destroying the blue canister that pops out on the Executioner’s back.

You can’t complete this fight by just dodging attacks and grappling away. You’ll also have to be on the offensive, and that too, with the right Descendants as well as weapons. To ensure that you have the optimal build, here are some tips to beat the Executioner in The First Descendant.

Best Descendants

When thinking about which Descendants to bring to this fight, here are the top picks:

  • Gley: Gley’s survivability and Toxin skills make her a solid pick against the Executioner. Her Thirst ability restores HP, while Berserk mode boosts long-range damage. Skills like Life Siphon deal damage and heal, and Massacre stuns enemies, making her great for sustained DPS and crowd control.
  • Freyna: Freyna excels with Toxin-based skills. Her Contagion Links boost toxic damage based on nearby poisoned enemies, while Decomposed Poison creates toxic zones that spread poison. Venomous Baptism enhances her weapon to deal heavy poison damage, making her highly effective against the Executioner.

Apart from that, you should equip Electric Antibody and Maximize Electric Resist modules to mitigate the Executioner’s electric-based attacks and improve survivability. You can also use Toxin Mastery modules to enhance Toxin damage from both Gley and Freyna’s skills, making them even more effective in countering the boss.

Best Weapons

When equipping weapons for this battle, use ‘Burst’ type weapons, such as Assault Rifles and Launchers with a Toxin ATK modifier. You can also add Toxin Enhancement and Toxin Priority modules to your weapons to further boost the Toxin ATK modifier.
