Following the Grand Finals of the 2024 Tekken 8 World Tour, series producer Katsuhiro Harada announced two new Tekken 8 updates for 2025. The winter update for Tekken 8 will include new photo mode and customization features, and a spring 2025 update will bring major balance changes and new moves to all playable characters.
The news came a few months after Tekken 8 released its autumn 2024 DLC fighter, beloved franchise villain Heihachi Mishima. Although Heihachi was announced during Evo 2024, the leader of the Mishima clan would not arrive until early October in Tekken 8 Patch 1.08. However, the Playable Character Year 1 Pass has one more fighter that has yet to be revealed at the time of writing. Harada confirmed that the fourth DLC fighter for Tekken 8 will be shown off during The Game Awards 2024, which will air on Thursday, December 12, at 7:30 PM Eastern. Tekken 8 is in the running for The Game Awards’ Best Multiplayer honors, alongside titles like Helldivers 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Tekken 8’s producer and director reveals one playable character from Tekken 7 who likely won’t be coming back to the game’s roster.
Although fans will not have to wait much longer to find out who Tekken 8‘s fourth DLC fighter will be, other features are on the way. A new trailer from Bandai Namco showed what Tekken 8 fans can expect in the months ahead. Alongside the fourth DLC fighter, the winter update will bring more photo mode options to Tekken 8, including hand gestures and facial expressions that can be changed when taking a still screenshot. A player search option will be added in Tekken 8‘s winter update, making finding new friends and rivals easier to manage. Cosmetics themed around the Tekken 30th Anniversary will also be included.
Tekken 8 Shares Upcoming Winter and Spring Update Plans
- Tekken 8 revealed its winter and spring updates are in the works.
- The winter update will include new photo mode enhancements, player search, and Tekken 30th Anniversary cosmetics.
- Season 2 of Tekken 8 will arrive in spring 2025, with major balance changes expected.
- The fourth DLC character of Tekken 8 will be revealed at The Game Awards on December 12.
However, Tekken 8 was not finished offering surprises to players, as the spring 2025 update will include a major balance update for all playable fighters. Each fighter will also gain new moves, though it remains to be seen what those moves will be. The spring 2025 segment also showed Nina Williams pursued by a helicopter loaded with missiles with a kiss mark on them. The missiles may be a possible reference to Anna Williams, Nina’s sister and a classic Tekken character who has yet to appear in Tekken 8, though only time will tell if that’s the case
The trailer concluded by confirming the Tekken 8 World Tour would return in 2025. While Tekken 8‘s Gemaji Temple stage controversy hit a sour note with fans, how Bandai Namco will handle things in 2025 remains to be seen.
