Starfield: Shattered Space – Kill Or Save Sahima? (Zealous Overreach)
Bethesda Game Studios’ open world space RPG Starfield released its first major DLC, Shattered Space, which is a handcrafted exploration of the mysterious and enigmatic House Va’ruun and its homeworld, the moon of Va’ruun’kai. Shattered Space sees a return to a more classic Bethesda formula, with a hub region filled with main quests, side quests, and discoverable locations — all available on foot. With a much more focused and defined scope, Shattered Space offers a bevy of new quests with a great Va’ruun theme.
As part of the DLC’s main story quests, players will receive the Zealous Overreach quest when they attempt to pursue the Help House Ka’dic objective in the quest, Aligning the Houses. Zealous Overreach sees players on the hunt for a group of Va’ruun Zealots that House Ka’dic has become a little too close with — and who have managed to kidnap some key members of the House. There are two different pathways for completing this quest: one offered by Razma Ka’dic, the House Elder, and one by Djimal Ka’dic, the House Mediary. Razma wants to save Sahima, while Djimal wants to kill her. So, should you kill or save Sahima in Zealous Overreach?
Agreeing To Kill Sahima In Zealous Overreach
Table of Contents
Razma’s intended outcome for Zealous Overreach is for the hostages to be saved and for her grip on her group of Va’ruun Zealots to be solidified once more. But her sister, Djimal Ka’dic, the House Mediary, has other plans. She wants to see House Ka’dic end its association with the Va’ruun Zealots completely and argues that the only way for this to happen is if the hostages are killed and Razma is forced to give up her plans. Djimal frames her request as a regrettable outcome for the greater good. Whether or not you agree with her reasoning, 10000 Credits can be extracted from her for the promise of killing Sahima when she’s found.
Killing Sahima
Sahima is a decent level and does put up a fight, but she’s nowhere near as difficult to kill as some of the other enemies in the dungeon. But, once dead, she needs to be looted for both Sahima’s Passcode and Sahima’s Research.
Killing The Hostages
It’s not just Sahima who needs to die to complete this objective, though. Every hostage — and Va’ruun Zealot — inside Shadow Station Epsilon has to die. So, once Sahima is found and killed, you have to go through the rest of the dungeon to kill all the hostages and hostiles. Once that’s done, the major objectives of this quest will be complete.
Negotiations After Killing Sahima
After killing Sahima the negotiations with the Va’ruun Zealots go sour. Razma is angry and upset with the outcome of the quest and blames the Zealots, ending their arrangement — just as Djimal wanted. The player can pass Persuasion checks to try and avoid a fight, or they can simply kill the Va’ruun Zealots. Djimal will then grant the player a reward, progressing the quest.
Saving Sahima In Zealous Overreach
To save Sahima, players simply need to progress the quest to the point where she can be spoken to about her plans. Once she’s rescued, she’ll become Essential, meaning she cannot be killed after that point, and the player is locked in to saving her. Sahima will aid the player using her technical know-how, but she’ll keep hold of her research until later on.
Saving The Hostages
The other hostages still need to be saved to complete the quest properly, but the Zealots don’t necessarily need to be killed.
Negotiations After Saving Sahima
If Sahima is saved, the negotiations with the Va’ruun Zealots can go very differently. Sahima arrives during the negotiations and threatens the Zealots with the destruction of their base thanks to her viruses and technical know-how. Depending on player choice, this can be used to avoid a fight during this phase of the quest. After the situation is resolved, Razma will ask the player not to tell the House Va’ruun High Council of anything that’s transpired. The player can agree to do so for a variety of roleplay reasons — or extort Razma for 15000 Credits instead. Afterward, Sahima will ask the player to find her at House Ka’dic where she is available as a player companion and crew member.
How To Recruit Sahima In Starfield
Sahima will return to House Ka’dic after this quest. When found, the player can offer her a spot on their ship and crew, and they can assign her to an available ship or outpost.
What Is The Best Outcome For Zealous Overreach?
The best outcome is to save Sahima and extort Razma. This grants the player a new crew member and 15000 Credits on top of the usual rewards for doing the quest. Although killing Sahima does award 10000 Credits, this amount is less than can be achieved from saving her and also does not reward a new player companion.
