STALKER 2: How to Fast Travel
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl‘s map is large, covering more than 60 square kilometers. As such, walking from one location to another can take quite a while, and some players may want to expedite their journeys with the help of a fast travel system. Fortunately for those players, there is fast travel mechanic in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and this guide is here to detail how to interact with it.
Fast travel in
STALKER 2
is quite limited, and players should not expect to use the mechanic to move around the map whenever they wish. Still, fast travel can be useful at times, and fans will benefit from understanding how it works.

STALKER 2: How to Fast Travel
It is first important to establish that fast travel can only be used to move between locations that have a Guide. For full clarity, Guides are NPCs in STALKER 2 that can instantly send players to another location that also has a Guide, and they are marked with reticle icons on the in-game map.
However, players cannot simply use a Guide to send them to any other Guide on STALKER 2‘s map, as they can only fast travel between locations that they have already visited. To concretize this idea with an example, the first two Guides that fans will encounter are in Zalissya, a Base in the Lesser Zone Region, and in the Slag Heap, a Base in the Garbage Region. After visiting both of those Bases, players can use the Guides that are found within them to fast travel between the two locations.
Players cannot endlessly fast travel between locations with Guides, though, as there is a cost associated with using the mechanic. While the amount of money that must be spent on fast travel is certainly not unobtainable, it is enough to have a real impact, particularly when a player is trying to get established in the early-game. Indeed, STALKER fans will be better off if they put their preliminary funds towards gear upgrades rather than spending them on fast travel.
Fortunately, players can minimize their need to fast travel in the early-game by thoroughly exploring a Region before moving onto the next one. Fans are thus advised to stay in a Region until they have addressed its side quests, visited its named locations, and hunted down its Stashes. Once a player feels satisfied with their exploration of a Region, they can follow STALKER 2‘s main story into the next area, and they should not have any urgent need to fast travel back to the previous Region.
