Samsung Evo Select 1TB MicroSD Card Review
As games continue to balloon in size and tech enthusiasts’ need for overall storage increases, it seems like 1TB is becoming less like a luxury and more like a necessity. With that in mind, Samsung is getting in on the 1TB SD card game with its Evo Select and Pro Plus lines of MicroSD cards.
I’ve used the Evo Select Samsung MicroSD cards for a while now, so it’s nice to see a 1TB option hit the market. Boasting 160MB/s read speed and 130MB/s write speed, the Evo Select is plenty fast for any gaming device that currently supports MicroSD cards. 1TB might seem like overkill where the Nintendo Switch is concerned, but having that much space means I’ve yet to have to make tough decisions about what to keep on my handheld and what to offload for space.

But the big benefit of a 1TB Evo Select SD card is for handheld PC gaming. Whether you’re on the Steam Deck, ASUS Rog Ally X, Lenovo LEGION Go, or any of the other up-and-coming PC handheld brands, the 1TB SD card option feels practically essential. Those read/write speeds on the Evo Select are going to give you solid launch and loading times on most popular games and space large enough to store at least a handful of the bigger titles or dozens of indies.
Evo Select Users Won’t Have To Worry About Reliability
There really isn’t much more to it as far as MicroSD cards are concerned, but Samsung has taken care to ensure reliability for those who choose the Evo Select. The card has drop protection up to 1.5 meters, wear-out protection for up to 10,000 swipes, X-ray and magnetic protection (huge for those who plan to travel with the card), and protection from extreme temperatures. It also includes a 10-year limited warranty.
Ultimately, storage size and speed are where most will look for their MicroSD cards, but it’s nice to have reliability, especially for those users who will load up important photos or smartphone data onto the card. Games can almost always be re-downloaded, but oftentimes, we use storage for more priceless pieces of data, and Samsung has you covered.
Thanks to the protection provided by the Evo Select SD card, users won’t ever stress out about losing their critical data!
Whether it’s for the Nintendo Switch, a handheld PC, a smartphone, a digital camera, or anything in between, the Samsung Evo Select 1TB SD card is an excellent choice with solid speeds and those protections. I’ve popped mine in my Steam Deck OLED, and it’s given me a lot more flexibility when it comes to what games I have available while gaming on the go.
