Razer gaming laptops feature high-end components and crisp displays. Still, it’s their modern and sleek designs that make them instantly recognizable. Just announced at CES 2025, Razer is refreshing the Blade 16 with an even slimmer construction.

While the laptop retains a QHD+ 240 Hz OLED screen, it’s now powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU. The Blade 16’s price is unknown, but it’s expected to become available in the first quarter of 2025.

The 2024 Razer Blade 16 was hardly chunky, but the latest iteration is noticeably more compact. Razer promises that the new Blade 16 is the slimmest laptop the manufacturer has ever produced. A 32% reduction in girth makes its edges look straighter, with a nearly non-existent base below the keyboard.

Another quibble some Blade 16 owners have is with its shallow keys. Slim keycaps encourage rapid typing, which is an asset for competitive gamers. Still, low-profile keyboards don’t always produce definitive feedback gamers enjoy with clicky mechanical keyboards. The 2025 Blade 16 sports 1.5 mm of key travel while maintaining responsiveness and accuracy. Otherwise, there are few other apparent changes, and the laptop still includes an oversized trackpad. Buyers can expect the same highly customizable Razer Chroma lighting found on the best RGB keyboards.

One thing that hasn’t changed with the Blade 16 is its impeccable build quality. Often considered the top 16-inch gaming laptop because of its durability, the Blade 16 is built from a single piece of aluminum. That results in a laptop that can be taken to school or work without suffering cracks or scratches. Hinges aren’t a weak point on the Blade 16 either, reinforced with thick metal joints.

What CPU Will Power the 2025 Blade 16?

The most surprising decision regarding the 2025 Blade 16 is the choice of processor. All current varieties of the laptop utilize the 14th-Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU. For this 2025 revision, Razer is opting for the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Intel’s chip is superior in most benchmarks but significantly less power efficient than its AMD rival. Razer hasn’t provided an estimated battery life, but this could result in more longevity when working or gaming. The new Blade 16 can also use AMD’s robust AI apps, enhancing its appeal as a business laptop. Even so, we expect the discreet GPU to impact gaming performance the most. The product page states that the laptop will have options that include the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 5090.

Razer has also confirmed that the 2025 Blade 16 will boast a QHD+ 240 Hz OLED screen. The laptop’s native resolution will likely be 2560 x 1600, matching the specs of a popular 2025 model. For now, 4K gaming fans are left disappointed, even if the benefits of this graphical fidelity on a 16-inch display are questionable. Instead, Razer focuses on low-latency performance, with the new Blade 16 exhibiting a miniscule 0.2 ms response time.

The new Blade 16 will rely on bespoke vapor cooling to keep critical components cooler with less fan noise. Razer recently released its Laptop Cooling Pad to further minimize throttling by dynamically adjusting cooling according to system temperatures. At CES 2025, Razer announced a clever Synapse feature, HyperBoost, to enhance the accessory. HyperBoost works with recent Blade laptops to surpass a chilled system’s power limits and raise framerates.

The slender 2025 Blade 16 is far from the only new product Razer is showcasing at CES 2025. We’ll provide updates as soon as more news reaches the convention floor in Las Vegas.
