Pokemon GO Players Want Changes to Legendary Dynamax Battles
Summary
- Some players call for balancing Legendary Dynamax Battles due to overpowering Legendaries.
- The community is divided on the issue, with some disagreeing and others experiencing the same frustration.
- Adjustments in Max Battles have been made in response to player dissatisfaction in the past.
Some Pokemon GO players are frustrated with the Legendary Dynamax Battles and call for changes. Niantic continues to support Pokemon GO by releasing frequent new updates. In addition to bringing new pocket monsters for players to catch, the devs bring new features to make the gameplay experience even more engaging.
Last year, Pokemon GO added Dynamax Pokemon, finally addressing a long-standing request from the community. As in the main series games, Dynamax monsters also increase in size and have access to special abilities called Max Moves. The first forms to debut in the augmented reality game were Dynamax Greedent and the Wooloo evolutionary line, with other critters, such as the Kanto and Galar starters, joining the list in later updates. Niantic recently added Dynamax variants of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, but it generated mixed reactions.

Redditor Taikuri1982 is one of the Pokemon GO players who want changes to the Legendary Dynamax Battles. They argue that these battles need “serious balancing” because Kanto’s Legendaries can dish out so much damage that even tankier critters like Metagross, Excadrill, and Blastoise can’t avoid being defeated with just one or two hits. According to them, a player’s monsters should be able to take at least a few hits without fainting. The trainer also expressed their frustration at not being able to see the moves of the Legendary Dynamax Pokemon in advance, something they think hinders the preparation.
This is Not the First Time Pokemon GO’s Max Battles Have Sparked Debate
The comments section showed split reactions to the OP’s request for balancing Legendary Dynamax Battles, with some disagreeing with the idea. These players argue that these battles are designed to be done with four trainers. In this way, it is expected that more players will make them doable. Meanwhile, having fewer players will make them more difficult. Other players agreed with the player’s point and said they had the same issue with sturdy Pokemon being easily knocked out. Like Taikuri1982, these commenters also said they had more trouble battling against Dynamax Moltres.
This isn’t the first time Max Battles have been the subject of debate among Pokemon GO players. The introduction of Max Mushrooms was controversial, as it worried trainers about the price of this useful item to increase the damage caused by player’s Pokemon during these raids. Not long after, Niantic adjusted Max Battles after players expressed their dissatisfaction. With Pokemon GO receiving tweaks and improvements frequently, players wait to see if the battles against Dynamax Legendary Pokemon will get any adjustments in future patches.
