Pokemon Collab With Donut Chain Lets Fans Eat Adorable Diglett
Key Takeaways
- Pokemon collaborates with Mister Donut for limited-edition Diglett and Dugtrio donuts in Japan.
- Collaborations extend to special merchandise and social media promotion for Pokemon’s 25th anniversary.
- International fans may expect similar collaborations with food chains in the future.
Pokemon is partnering once again with the Mister Donut chain in Japan for limited-edition donuts, which makes fans in Japan a bit happier during the holidays. Every year, they choose a different Pokemon to create a new doughnut, alongside traditional Pikachu and Poke Ball donuts.
Mister Donut has been collaborating with Pokémon for a few years now, and this time the ground-type Diglett is the chosen one to join the partnership. The donuts were released on November 6, 2024, and costumers can also get special merchandise, which, according to SoraNews, includes Pokemon-themed blankets and glasses (they state a set with blankets cost 1,990 yen, around US$ 12.94). Check out a video revealing Mister Donut.
Mister Donut also recently revealed on social media that it’s not only Diglett. From November 27, 2024, fans will also be able to buy a Dugtrio Donut! Reservations will be available from November 15. They shared a cute donut evolution video on X (formerly Twitter):

Unfortunately, the Diglett doughnut is apparently already sold out — most fans likely reserved it before the chain started selling it, but everyone will get a second chance with the Dugtrio donut. There’s also a promotional image showing Diglett, Pikachu and the Poke Ball donuts. Check out:
Mister Donut has been partnering with Pokemon at least since 2018.
Other Pokemon Collaborations
From Japan to The World
Despite this being an already traditional collab, Pokemon has been partnering with several different brands and artists since its 25th anniversary in 2021, when major US pop singers were gathered to release a special Anniversary Album.
After that, they kept collaborating with artists and musicians, and despite Pokemon Company investing in special albums for a long time (the Pokemon Christmas Bash proves it), now even Dua Lipa is releasing Pokemon music.
Recent collaborations include Crocs shoes, a unprecedent Hatsune Miku project with 18 new songs and video clips, and a Van Gogh Museum exhibit which sparked controversy among fans involving potential misconduct.
The first Pokemon games were released in 1996, and in nine generations it has already spawned several different collaborations in Japan as the franchise became wide-known and one of the best-selling series, but big partnerships were not so usual internationally. While international fans cannot try Pikachu donuts outside Japan yet, they can at least expect similar actions might happen in the future with other food chains.
