One Piece: Which Straw Hat Had The Worst Training Island
The journey of the Straw Hats throughout the seas of One Piece has been filled with incredible amounts of danger and peril. It seems like more often than not, the crew is locked in a desperate struggle for survival, combating the Navy, fellow pirates, or even the seas of the Grand Line itself. In many cases, the Straw Hat Crew has struggled greatly to get where they are in One Piece, facing any amount of danger and strife to see their dreams become a reality.
This is even true for the training that the Straw Hats were forced to endure during the two years that the crew was separated. This One Piece time skip had each crew member go to an island where they honed their skills to prepare for their journey in One Piece’s New World. However, although this sounds like a casual training adventure, some Straw Hats had worse islands than others, with some even having to endure a dangerous nightmare scenario to survive their ordeal.
While many of these islands are incredibly dangerous, the time spent on the island will also be taken into consideration. This means if a character spent less time on the island, it wasn’t nearly as dangerous for them.

One Piece’s Straw Hats Were Sent Around The World For Time Skip
Each Member Was Sent To An Island That Helped Hone Their Skills
For their One Piece time skip training, each Straw Hat was sent to an island by Bartholomew Kuma that would best suit their training needs. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hats, was sent to Rususkaina, a deadly jungle island near One Piece’s Amazon Lily. Zoro was sent to Kuraigana, the home of the legendary swordsman, Dracule Mihawk. Nami was sent to Weatheria, the peaceful floating island of a group of weather scientists. Usopp was sent to the Boin Archipelago, a string of deadly, man-eating plants that are as large as islands.
If it’s a boring adventure, I don’t want it! – Luffy
For the rest of the One Piece, Straw Hat Crew, Sanji was sent to Kamabakka, the home island of Ivankov. The Chopper was sent to the Torino Kingdom, an island filled with a conflicting group of humans and birds. The Straw Hat archaeologist, Robin, was sent to Tequila Wolf, a prison camp where laborers were forced to construct a massive bridge. Franky was sent to Karkuri Island, the home of the One Piece scientist, Vegapunk’s, initial laboratory. Finally, Brook was sent to Namakura Island, the home of a strange cult.
Most Of The Straw Hats Went To A Safe Place
These Islands Were Tough But Fair For The Crew
- Most Straw Hats Had Relatively Safe Islands With Strong Mentors
- Robin Had To Liberate A Prison Camp But Soon Joined The Revolutionary Army
First and foremost, most of the Straw Hat Pirates, including Nami, Brook, Franky, Sanji, Chopper, and Zoro, had relatively simple islands to survive on. Namely, Nami and Sanji had an incredibly easy time with gracious hosts, though the latter resisted every step of the way during his time there. Although Brook, Franky, Chopper, and the powerful swordsman, Zoro, ran into some issues on their islands, mainly being captured or needing to fight dangerous creatures, on these islands, most of the time they either made quick friends with their captors or had relaxing places to stay on the island.

One Piece: Usopp Is Tougher Than Fans Give Him Credit For
While many view Usopp as the weakest Straw Hat in One Piece, he is far tougher than fans give him credit for.
As for Robin, although the initial part of her journey, which involved fighting against the labor camp of Tequila Wolf, the Straw Hat archaeologist was eventually picked up by One Piece’s Revolutionary Army. Although she presumably went on some dangerous missions here, she also had a very steady place to stay, and powerful allies to help her.
Luffy And Usopp Had Incredibly Dangerous Islands
These Islands Were Constantly Life Or Death Situations
While Luffy’s island was arguably full of the most powerful creatures, proportionally, Usopp probably had the worst island for time skip training in One Piece. On his island, Luffy also had the assistance of one of the strongest One Piece characters currently alive, the pirate, Silvers Rayleigh. Usopp, on the other hand, had to survive an island where almost everything was deadly, all while being the weakest member of the Straw Hat Crew. While he did have a mentor, Heracles, to help guide his journey, it seems that Usopp needed to put in the most effort to survive, and had the closest brush with death on his island.
When the world shoves you around, you just gotta stand up and shove back. – Zoro
While no island was easy for the Straw Hats for One Piece’s time skip training, it’s safe to say that Usopp was given the worst island out of the bunch. With that being said, if Luffy, Zoro, or any of the other Straw Hats were to be sent to the Boin Archipelago, they would most likely have a much easier time surviving. However, for one of the weakest One Piece characters, this was an intense struggle for survival.
