One Piece: The Sun God Vs The Sea Devil, Explained
The Sun God and the Sea Devil have a deep history that goes back centuries in One Piece. The Sun God will have to step up once more against it.
In a world where multiple factions are vying for superiority, there are those who are practically gods already, thanks to the powers of various Devil Fruits that they’ve consumed. Fans will most definitely get to see a lot of exciting godly abilities in the Final Saga, and some of them have already been revealed, with others still working from the shadows, waiting for their time to shine.
The Existence Of God Devil Fruits In One Piece
- God Devil Fruits Exist In The One Piece World
- Luffy Is A User Of A God Devil Fruit
Up until recently, the existence of Gods and Godly abilities in One Piece didn’t even cross the minds of the fans. However, now things are different. After the Wano Country Arc, Oda opened a world of possibilities to the fans and showed them the power of a certain God—the Sun God Nika. Nika was revealed to be the warrior of liberation and the Sun God who always shows up when the world is in a dire state of need. Nika frees people from their misery and liberates people from their shackles. He has a booming laugh and spreads joy to wherever he goes. With a body of rubber that stretches and shrinks, Nika can do whatever he sets his mind to and is only limited by his imagination. This godly being holds, by far, the most ridiculous power to ever exist.
The Final Saga of One Piece, where things are more exciting than ever before and Oda continues to reveal more exciting secrets, only gave the fans more lore about Nika.
When I was a kid, I thought to myself: Man I would love to draw a manga with the most hyped final stage! I wonder if I’m up to it! Now, we have only a tiny bit of Wano arc left, the preparations are almost done. Took me 25 years lol. That said, it’s fine if you start reading from this point on, Because from this point on…it’ll be…(the) One Piece!! The mysteries of this world, I’ll be drawing all of them! It’ll be super interesting! Fasten your seatbelt! And please stay with me for a bit longer! – Oda
Nika was seen engaging in combat against the likes of the Elders, and then, in Elbaf, fans found out a great deal about him through the likes of Jarul, along with other members of the Giant race. Most importantly, however, the existence of Nika meant that other Gods also exist in the One Piece world. With Nika being the first to be revealed, fans knew that it was only a matter of time before more godly Devil Fruit users will now start showing up
Why There Is More Than Just A God Of Liberation
Loki Has A Legendary Power Of A Destroyer
While Luffy might have been considered to be the only Godly ability user in One Piece until recently, now, Elbaf has flipped the script. According to what Oda has revealed recently in Elbaf, Loki might just have a Godly ability as well. Loki has the power of a Legendary Devil Fruit that he ate around 6 years ago. This fruit was passed down the royal line of Elbaf for generations and it was eventually taken by him after murdering his own father, King Harald. It is believed that Loki has the might to destroy the world if he is freed from his chains, which adds up with his claims of being the Sun God who will destroy the world.
Whether he is a God of Liberation or someone who brings destruction is not known. — Jarul
Of course, Luffy is the Sun God Nika, but, Devil Fruits themselves come into existence from the wishes of the people. They’re a pathway to a different form of evolution that results from desires. The thing about Nika is that nobody truly knows whether he is a destroyer or a savior.

One Piece: The True Role Of The Figarland Family In The Final Saga, Explained
The Figarland family has a huge role to play in One Piece. Shanks, Garling, and the lookalike will be major characters.
As such, it is entirely possible for two Nika Devil Fruits to exist, one having the power of a destroyer, while the other having the power of a liberator. As fans know, Luffy is the Warrior of Liberation, but Loki could be the destroyer, which means that, in one way or another, Loki will go on to play out his role of destroyer and become a godly being himself.
Based on the idea of Vegapunk, which suggests that Devil Fruits are born from the desires of the people, any Godly being that is worshipped and believed in firmly can be real. People who want to be like a certain god will give rise to that particular Devil Fruit, and this fruit will then seek out the perfect match.
Which Other Characters Will Carry God Devil Fruits?
Imu And Many Others Could Have Godly Powers
Fans know another individual who could have a Godly power in One Piece, and they person is none other than Imu. Known to be the sovereign of the world, Imu might just have the power of the Sea Devil. For one, Imu can freely give and take abilities, which means that he isn’t a normal Devil Fruit user. His underlings are all Yokai users, and Imu himself is a rival to a God in Nika. Undoubtedly, Imu is another Godly Devil Fruit user in One Piece.
At the same time, there also exist other Gods, such as the God of Forest and the God of Rain, among others. These powers are bound to come into existence as well, and who has them isn’t known just yet. Regardless, this is the final saga, and as Oda promised, this is where the most exciting mysteries of the world will be finally revealed. All the Gods and their underlings, the rulers and their servants, and the pirates and their cremates will go all out in this section in a battle for supremacy the likes of which have never been seen before. Fans absolutely cannot wait to see things unfold in the Final Saga of the series, and right now, all eyes are on Elbaf, where two Gods exist, and where the Government had already made a move against Nika, only to be met with resistance in the form of the Giants, as well as the Straw Hat Pirates.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1137, is set to be January 26, 2025.
