NuPhy's Kick75 Launches as World's First Hybrid Profile Mechanical Keyboard
NuPhy has released some excellent keyboards in the past. Recently, with the release of the Air60HE, we saw they could take the low-profile form factor and make it a fantastic choice for gamers, using Hall Effect switches in a low-profile form factor for the first time. With the announcement of the Kick75, NuPhy is going after another world’s first title.
We have seen similar customization levels in fully DIY keyboards, but now, for the first time in a commercial product, the Kick 75 allows interchangeable use of full-height and low-profile switches.

The Kick75’s main selling point is that it is compatible with low-profile and full-height mechanical switches, all on the same PCB and in the same case — well, at least it’s mostly the same case. NuPhy has not been super forward with the nitty-gritty details yet, but from what we can gather from the pre-order page, it looks like you may need to swap out the case top when switching between low-profile and full-height switches. So, if you were hoping for a keyboard that could switch from low profile to full height in a snap, the technology doesn’t seem to be at that point yet.
However, if you like to tinker and change up your keyboard fairly regularly, the Kick75 seems to be an absolute treat. Not only does this keyboard come with everything you need to switch between the two different switches, but with official 3D printing files being available, you can easily print whatever you want for this keyboard to make it your own. From the keycaps to accessories like the smart knob, you can play around with different designs all you like.
Not only does the Kick75 allow you to customize to your heart’s content, but it also has the performance chops to hold up to whatever you want to use it for. With 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, and wired connection options, you can easily use this keyboard in various setups, from competitive games to everyday use. Not to mention, the 1,000Hz polling rate on top of the triple-mode connectivity is just the icing on the cake for gamers.

Breaking The Stigma: The Joys Of Gaming With A Low Profile Keyboard
Gamers have every right to be wary of low-profile keyboards of the past. Now, with great mechanical low-profile options, gamers need not worry.
At the time of writing, it is unclear how NuPhy will package the Kick75. It is possible you can get this keyboard with just the low-profile or full-height switch set, but it would be ideal if buyers could also get a hybrid kit with everything you need to switch back and forth between the different heights. Given how NuPhy is a big proponent of customization and how they packaged the Nos75, we are guessing that the hybrid pack is going to be the most likely option for the Kick75.
Is It Worth a Pre-Order?
While this keyboard is certainly not for everyone, if you are a DIY keyboard fan like myself, the $1 pre-pay is more than worth it to get your hands on this world’s first keyboard, not to mention the fun retro design and excellent performance that comes along with it. While we don’t have a hard release date for the Kick75 yet, we are excited to get our hands on it at some point to see if all the hype lives up to the delivery.
