Units are one of the main currencies in No Man’s Sky, and necessary for lots of in-game transactions. Here are a few ways to get rich quick.
How to Find Solanium in No Man’s Sky
Solanium is very similar to Frost Crystal, except you can find it on hot and scorched planets in No Man’s Sky. Aim your starship at a planet when in space and use your scanner to see the planet’s type and available resources. Look for terms that describe a hot and dry climate, like Arid Planet, Incandescent Planet, Boiling Planet, and Scorched Planet. It also shows Solanium as one of the available resources.
Land on the planet and use the Analysis Visor to find the Solar Vine plant. These plants look like tall rocks with glowing vines around them. There are always a lot of them in one place, and you need the Haz-Mat Gauntlet to gather them. If you have Phosphorus deposits on the planet, take some time to extract them, too, as they can be used to craft more Solanium when you don’t have access to hot planets.
How to Farm Solanium in No Man’s Sky
You can farm Solar Vines on your base after you progress the Farmer’s Agricultural Research mission. Build a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome and plant Solar Vines using 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. If you’re based on a hot planet, you can plant Solar Vines straight into the ground.
It takes approximately 16 real-life hours for the Solar Vine to grow, so plant it and come back the next day to harvest it.
How to Craft Solanium in No Man’s Sky
There are a few recipes to make Solanium in the Refiner, and most of them require Phosphorus from hot planets. Alternatively, you can buy Phosphorus from traders and Galactic Trade Terminals. Here are all Solanium crafting recipes in No Man’s Sky:
- Solanium + Phosphorus (to make more Solanium)
- Phosphorus + Oxygen
- Phosphorus + Sulphurine
- Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine
Unfortunately, all of these recipes, including those that require Sulphurine, require you to visit a hot planet. The best way to ensure there’s always enough Sulphurine is to gather enough Phosphorus and build a farm at your base.
