To simplify things even more, this guide details a step-by-step process on how players can go from zero to master miners in the least possible time. From the basics of how to mine, to the best farming routes and all the useful advice from expert miners, this guide has everything players need to master the Mining Trade Skill.

How To Mine In New World: Aeternum

To mine ores in New World: Aeternum, players need to equip a Mining Pick, then approach a resource node and press the E button on their keyboard, Triangle button (PS5), or X button (Xbox) to interact with the node. Each node has a ‘difficulty level’ associated with how much proficiency a player has in Mining. Here’s a list of all types of ores players can farm in the game, and how much Trade Skill level they need for each:

Tier 5

There are three soft caps in the Mining Trade Skill. The first is between Tier 2 and 3 (Near Level 35), the second comes between Tier 3 and 4 (around Level 100-110), and the third comes with the jump from Tier 4 to 5, which is between levels 130 and 150. Getting around these caps won’t be easy, but it is not impossible — if players know where to find the correct farming spots.

It is important to keep in mind that Mining levels and tracking levels might be unlocked separately. By general rule, players gain the ability to mine an ore first, then as an intermediate unlock between Tiers, they unlock the tracking for the lower tier ore, and so on. Keep a close eye at the compass to detect ores to level the Mining Trade Skill faster.

At first, players will be mining mostly stone, which is the most basic Tier 1 Material. Then, once they reach Mining 25, they will unlock their first ore: Iron. From there, things get quite tricky, since there are metallic ores used for crafting Gear, and precious ores used to craft Accessories like Rings, Pendants, and Necklaces.

Once players get the hang of mining ores, they need to know that there are two separate branches: one is focused on gathering ore for smelting, and the other on gathering stone for Stonecutting. Both are part of the Mining Trade Skill, and players can mine both stone and ore to level up faster. In the process, they’ll be able to gather lots of important materials, but their Encumbrance might constitute a problem.

How To Level Up Mining Fast In New World: Aeternum

Mining is related to the Strength attribute and its perks. So, to farm more efficiently and level up faster, players should go ahead and invest all their points in Strength, and if possible, get gear with all Strength Attribute increases (including weapons) to unlock all its perks. It will not only make them farm faster (and consequently increase their levels at higher speeds) but also increase the amount of ore they can carry (and grant other important bonuses).

  • Perk unlocked with 25 Points: +10% Mining Speed.
  • Perk unlocked with 50 Points: +25 encumbrance.
  • Perk unlocked with 100 Points: +50 encumbrance.
  • Perk unlocked with 150 Points: 10% reduced weight for all Mined Items (Including Stone, Precious, and Metals).
  • Perk unlocked with 200 Points: +20% Mining Speed.
  • Perk unlocked with 250 Points: +10% yield when Mining.
  • Perk unlocked with 300 Points: 25% chance of mining a vein in one hit.
  • Perk unlocked with 350 Points: 10% chance of finding rare items while Mining.

Having a mount equipped with the
stamina reduction charm
, and leveling up the Mounting skill, can help players save time and effort as they seek the materials they need. Traveling between nodes can be a pain, but with a mount, things become slightly faster, and farming routes are even more efficient than before.

Another good way to get an extra boost in Mining speed and level up faster is to get a better Mining Pick. Mining Picks come in Tiers from 1 to 5, and the better the tier, the better the Gathering Speed Mining Picks provide. And, of course, having Mastery Perks unlocked with Territory Reputation also helps a lot.

On the other hand, having a set of Miner’s Clothes (Miner’s Googles/Hat, Miner’s Gloves, Miner’s Pants, Miner’s Shirt, and Miner’s Shoes) will greatly reinforce the player’s chances to get better special materials when mining (which also includes Jewels) and thus more Trade Skill Mastery needed to level up faster.

Finally, make sure to equip Bags with Prospector’s Burden and Miner’s Luck Perks, as these will reduce the weight of all mined ores and Mining Tools, and they will increase Special Item yield chances each time players mine a vein. These Bag Perks are useful for most Trade Skills that have players carry lots of materials around, like Cooking for example, so consider having several of these for each profession.

New World: Aeternum – How to Level Up Fast

Here are a few things you can do to reach New World: Aeternum’s endgame as quickly as possible.

Best Areas For Leveling Mining In New World: Aeternum

  • Mining Levels 0-100: Monarch Bluff area, North toward Devil’s Quarry. Players can get plenty of Iron, Silver, and even Gold and Starmetal in this area — plus plenty of Alchemy Stones to acquire even more extra Mastery Points. The good thing about this area is that its spawn rates for veins are quite fast, so players can get around pretty easily and level up fast until they reach level 100. If players wish to, they can stick near this area and farm all Starmetal veins for some extra exp.
  • Mining Levels 100-125: Windsward Area, Coast, Pirate Cove, Amrine Temple North. In this area, players will be able to find several Platinum and Starmetal veins, but if players want to pump that level up real fast, they should travel to the Great Cleave, above Brightwood, since there are plenty of Starmetal veins packed together there. That way, they will be able to level up more efficiently. If players follow the Braided Hills route, they will find between 12 to 15 Starmetal veins there, and then they can go northeast to the Hollowing Area to find at least 10 more.
  • Mining Levels 125-150: For the next Tier, players should be mining Platinum to reach at least level 150, which will grant access to the final Mining Tiers. Getting Platinum is easier than Starmetal, as the respawn rates for the veins are faster, and there are plenty of spots to farm. Players should head to the Reekwater area, and travel West. Between the Sharptooth Pass and the Edgeflow, they’ll find between 20 and 25 Platinum veins to mine. Next, they should head toward Edengrove, then travel to the very center of the map. In the triangle formed by the Genesis of Malevolence, Spite, and Malice, they can find plenty of Platinum veins. Farming this route twice will make them reach at least level 150.
  • Mining Levels 150-205: For the last part, players should draw an effective route and time Spawn Rates really carefully, since Orichalcum has some of the longest spawn rates of all resources in the game. The small veins take between 17 and 24 minutes to respawn, and the Medium Veins take 21 to 30 minutes. But the large veins take 24 to 34 minutes, and that’s a lot. Travel to the Southwest of Ebonscale Reach, near the Dynasty Landing area, and scour the island for veins. Once players are done with depleting the 20 (more or less) veins they’ll find in this area, they need to make it fast to the area between Thunder Cradle and Palewind Terrace, as there are plenty of veins there as well.

Some Ore Veins might be located in areas
only accessible by climbing
, so it’s all about knowing how to get near ledges and pressing the jumping button until the character climbs. It’s quite straightforward, but there are cases where climbing can get a little buggy, and players might end up stuck in the rocks. If that happens, use the
Unstuck
feature from the main menu, which will teleport players to the nearest safest place. With some luck, they will land near an Ore Vein, and they’ll be able to farm it.

Best Standing Bonuses For Mining In New World: Aeternum

New World Aeternum Standing Bonuses

Mastery Perks are unlocked once players reach a certain Standing in the Territory they are roaming around. Each territory has its own standing meter, and players will unlock the base bonus (enabling them to purchase a home) at standing 1. From there, each time they level up, they’ll be able to pick Standing Bonuses available from the Map Menu in the Territory Management Tab.

Here are the best Standing Bonuses to pick and level up Mining faster:

  • Gather Speed: Increases all Gathering Skill-related actions by a %.
  • Storage Space: Increases total Storage space by 50 — a Must-have to store all the ores players will get by Mining.

To increase standing faster, players should get Town Project Quests from the Town Project Board. That way, they can gather ore and stone to deliver in exchange for Standing, Exp, and Gold. That’s the most efficient way for players to keep leveling up Mining, their characters, and also acquire more Standing Bonuses.
