Marvel Snap Gives Update on US Availability
Summary
- Marvel Snap will be back in the US within the next 12 hours.
- Swift restoration of TikTok services may have contributed to Marvel Snap’s quick comeback.
- The game continues to improve with monthly updates, offering new features and fixes for players.
Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner has recently confirmed that the game will be back in the United States within 12 hours. The collectible card game Marvel Snap was released in 2022, and has become incredibly popular since then, so players were rightfully unhappy when the title became unavailable in the United States after the TikTok ban.
On January 19, 2025, TikTok was banned from the United States. Developed by the Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok was accused by US politicians of collecting user data for the Chinese government. While TikTok denied the accusations, the “Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” was passed in 2024, and secured the ban of the platform in the US. Surprisingly, Marvel Snap was also banned alongside TikTok, due to it being published by Nuverse, a subsidiary of TikTok’s owner ByteDance. This prompted the game to be removed from online stores and unavailable to play within US territory.

Soon after the ban, TikTok’s services were restored in the United States, and now Second Dinner has addressed the situation regarding the Marvel Snap ban. According to the developers, Marvel Snap should be working again in the US within the “next 12 hours,” meaning that the game will likely be playable again by January 21.
Marvel Snap Developers Confirm The Game Will Be Back Within a Few Hours
The quick comeback of Marvel Snap could be linked to TikTok’s swift return. Just before the ban, Trump already revealed plans to bring back TikTok, which is currently accessible in the United States at the time of this report. However, it remains to be seen how the situation of TikTok in the US will end, as the law that banned the platform is technically still in place.
Despite the unexpected issues with the ban, Marvel Snap continues to unveil new monthly updates. Earlier this month, for example, the game made some important changes to card acquisition, doubling the drop rate of Series 3 cards in Collector’s Reserves, an important change that should drastically reduce how long it takes for new players to acquire all Season 3 cards. In the same update, the Token payout from Spotlight Cache was also increased from 1000 to 2000 Tokens. Apart from that, the update fixed some bugs and changed effects on a few cards. Hopefully, Marvel Snap will continue improving its fans’ experience, and avoid future bans in the US.
