How To Use Combos in Warriors: Abyss
Warriors: Abyss is a game that combines a lot of different things with a specific goal in mind, and somehow makes everything work together. It is part classic Dynasty Warriors, part roguelike, and part Vampire Survivors. It takes the best parts of everything and creates a beautiful soup that’s hard to put down.
The attack system that Warriors: Abyss uses might be unfamiliar for players who haven’t gotten into it’s parent franchise. The attacks and combos in the game are fairly simple, but they can be confusing at the start. After a little practice, you’ll be flinging around massive fireballs and lightning strikes like nobody’s business.

How to Use Combos in Warriors: Abyss
Combos are the main method that players use to deal damage in Warriors: Abyss. Characters have two inputs, one for a simple attack and one for a charged attack. These two inputs are used in conjunction with one another to unleash unique combos. Players can chain together 6 normal attack inputs with each other. However, simply chaining normal attacks doesn’t deal a lot of damage.
Samurai characters can also use charged attacks consecutively, and chain them together with normal attacks to create a whole new set of combos.
The real damage dealer comes into play when you chain normal attacks with charged attacks. Normal + Charged, Normal + Normal + Charged, and so on is the basic input scheme for combos, with the sixth normal attack not chaining with a unique attack. Each combo has a different animation and damage output, and can be held to summon a character from the player’s formation associated with that number. A chain with two normal attacks will summon the second character in the formation, and a chain with five normal attacks will summon the fifth character in a formation, and so on.
Players can continue a combo even if it gets interrupted by a dash.

How to Unlock Combos in Warriors: Abyss
Using the sixth and fifth summon, or a Normal Attack 5 chain requires the player to obtain a certain number of skill emblems. Dynasty Warriors characters also have EX attacks which increase a combo further than the usual limit, dealing a lot more damage, which can also be unlocked by obtaining skill emblems.
Some characters might start with a skill emblem. Obtaining more emblems is a simple matter of choosing the right characters during the recruitment section after each floor clear. Players can also get them from drops when fighting enemies.
