The story of World of Warcraft: The War Within is far from over. Aside from the Siren Isle update, Season 2 is expected to start later on in 2025 which will provide all sorts of new endgame content and the next chapter of this current expansion. That said, there are plenty of new story quests that are part of Patch 11.0.7 that will help set the scene for Patch 11.1, which will involve the capital city of the Goblins, Undermine. There is also a series of quests that help bring the tragic tale of Dalaran’s destruction to a close, but that won’t be available right when the patch launches.

Updated on January 7, 2025 by Paul Woodward: It truly feels like the end of an era with the latest set of campaign quests. Dalaran has been a part of Warcraft and World of Warcraft for many years, but the floating magical city may never recover from the events of The War Within. The Dalaran Epilogue questline serves as a conclusion to that story and gives a proper send off to what was once an important social space in both Wrath of the Lich King and Legion.

Unlike the Dalaran Epilogue, the Lingering Shadows campaign can be started right away. You do not need to have completed either the leveling campaign or the Level 80 campaign. If you aren’t fully caught up in the story, make sure to do that first if you want to avoid any spoilers or want more context for what all the characters are talking about. The Lingering Shadows campaign consists of the following quests:

  • Lingering Shadows
  • Price of a Mission
  • Standing in the Way
  • No Breathing Room
  • Together, Alone
  • The Voice
  • Ringing in the Deeps
  • Good Help These Days
  • Hey, What’s Going On?
  • Haywired and Hostile
  • Built to Blast
  • Bat Versus World
  • Found Friends

After completing Found Friends, make sure to talk to Orweyna. While her quest isn’t part of the campaign, it does provide some additional information about plot points that will likely come up in future updates for The War Within or in one of the other World Soul Saga expansions.

How to Start Dalaran Epilogue in World of Warcraft: The War Within

When this patch came out, the Dalaran Epilogue had a three week time gate. As of January 7th, you will no longer have to wait for this questline to become available. However to unlock this campaign, you will need to have completed the leveling campaign for The War Within along with the Level 80 campaign, which you unlock by having your standing with all four Khaz Algar factions be at least Renown Four.

If you aren’t certain whether you’ve met these criteria or not, go to Foundation Hall where you start the prologue quests for the upcoming Patch 11.1. If you see Khadgar, you will be able to get a quest from him once it is January 7th or later. If you don’t see him, then that means you’ve still got some campaign quests left to finish. Below you will fnd the full quest list for the Dalaran Epilogue.
