Marvel Rivals is a fun, fast-paced third-person team shooter centered around the characters and worlds of the Marvel franchise. Gameplay follows a 6v6 format in which players may compile a team of heroes and villains across three different roles, and work together to fight over objective areas in king of the hill-styled battles, escort payloads, and more.

Right from Season 0 – Doom’s Rise, Marvel Rivals launched with a roster of 33 heroes who can either be Duelists, Vanguards, or Strategists. Furthermore, all of these heroes are released right from the get-go, meaning players can jump right into trying them all out and finding which characters work best for them, and will therefore become their mains. Psylocke is a Duelist who can be fantastic when her abilities are used to their full potential, making her a deadly threat in the right hands. Find out all you need to know about playing Psylocke, including her abilities, Team-Ups, and more, in the guide below.

In Marvel Rivals, Psylocke is a technical Duelist who has the potential to deal massive damage to enemies through combos that utilize her abilities, as well as a tool for either engaging in fights or disengaging and escaping to safety with her invisibility. With proper utilization of her abilities, Psylocke can pick off squishy enemies and keep herself alive by playing near health packs, using her dash to reposition herself or to finish off opponents who are 1 hp. Because her playstyle revolves around combos and knowing when to engage with targets, understanding Psylocke’s abilities is crucial to her gameplay.

Tips and Tricks for Playing Psylocke in Marvel Rivals

Psylocke has a lot of tools in her kit that can be used to keep herself alive on the field and consistently dealing damage to the enemies. Here are a few tips and tricks to consider when you’re getting started with learning Psylocke’s kit, as well as key strengths and weaknesses.

  • Psylocke’s primary fire recharges the cooldown on her other abilities – so if you’ve used up your cooldowns you may be able to get them back by dealing damage, enabling you to continue targeting squishies with a refresh of your key abilities, or granting you an escape tool to reach safety and re-engage with your Marvel Rivals team through your dash or stealth.
  • Psylocke’s Shurikens can be particularly useful in chipping away the HP of targets, as they can also grant Psylocke bonus health, and can stick to multiple targets within close proximity at a single time. When incorporated into a combo with her primary fire and dash, she can be very efficient at taking out solo targets one at a time.
  • Psylocke’s stealth has some versatility in how it can be used. It can be useful in sneaking up on your enemy and starting a combo from an angle that they’d least expect, or it can be a brilliant get-out-of-jail card when the enemy team peels for someone Psylocke is focus-firing.
  • Learning map health packs will make Psylocke gameplay flow much more naturally, as you will be less reliant on healing provided by your team when in constant flank routes. Knowing map health packs means you can use stealth and dash to escape from them when in a pinch – and there are certain map health packs that you may even be able to play around entirely, applying your combos to secure picks, regen health, and then using the health pack to gain full health once you get low.
  • Psylocke should primarily focus on squishy targets, as these are eliminations that she can get in, secure, and get back out with ease. She is also brilliant at finishing bulkier targets that are low thanks to her dash – but these should not be her first point of concern, as she may struggle within close proximity to some of these enemies.
  • Psylocke’s dash can be used vertically as well as horizontally, enabling her to reach high-ground platforms and rooftops. Both are great points of escap, and decent places to use stealth and then dive on enemy targets.
  • Psylocke’s ultimate is best used when enemies are grouped up in close proximity, squishies in particular. Psylocke’s ultimate has a decent size AOE, and any enemy inside that AOE when her Ultimate is cast will receive slashing damage from her katana. This is an easy way to farm kills on squishy targets or low-health enemies. However, it can be wasted if you focus on the wrong targets with this ability. Rather than trying to go for big team kills with it and only securing 1-2 kills due to focusing on bulky Marvel Rivals characters, you’re better looking to pick off 3-4 squishies with it, if possible. With two dashes and a stealth, getting in to engage with this ability is easy, so you shouldn’t have any fear in doing so; if you’re going for Dance of the Butterfly, know your target priority and commit to the attack!
  • You should always be using one of your abilities. If you have your abilities all available to use at a single time, use them, whenever possible. Psylocke can reduce her cooldown times and grant herself more survivability with shuriken Bonus Health, so there’s no point holding on to her abilities for the perfect use. If you wait around you probably could have used them and already got them back through her cooldown regen, so you should always be looking to apply pressure without getting yourself cornered by multiple enemies.
  • Know when to back out of a fight. Psylocke thrives at one-on-one matchups in many different scenarios thanks to her toolkit. However, there are several matchups, with bulky melee targets in particular, in which she may struggle. In this scenario, it’s best to try and use your double dash and stealth abilities to simply get out of the fight and either regroup with your team or change your positioning and flank another target.
