While the 20th Anniversary event may be over in World of Warcraft, there are still plenty of events going on to keep players busy while they wait for the release of Patch 11.1 a little later this year. During a similar lull between content patches during Dragonflight, there was a special event known as Turbulent Timeways. This event has returned once again, and has a unique reward that players can obtain if they can get the Mastery of Timeways buff enough times.

Turbulent Timeways Event Explained
While weekly Timewalking events are typically more spread out, during Turbulent Timeways there will be five consecutive Timewalking events active from January 1 to February 25. Each week will focus on a different set of Timewalking dungeons from different expansions. The order is as follows:
- Week 1: Mists of Pandaria (1/07 to 1/14)
- Week 2: Warlords of Draenor (1/14 to 1/21)
- Week 3: Legion (1/21 to 1/28)
- Week 4: Classic (1/28 to 2/04)
- Week 5: The Burning Crusade (2/04 to 2/11)
- Week 6: Wrath of the Lich King (2/11 to 2/18)
- Week 7: Cataclysm (2/18 to 2/25)
Everytime you complete a Timewalking Dungeon, you will get one stack of a buff called Knowledge of Timeways. This buff lasts for two hours, doesn’t expire on death, and grants five percent extra experience from killing monsters and completing quests. Upon reaching four stacks, the buff transforms into Mastery of Timeways. This buff lasts for three hours and increases experience gained from completing quests and killing monsters by 30%. Just like with Knowledge of Timeways, this buff is not lost on death. With both buffs, the timer is refreshed if you complete another Timewalking Dungeon.
In order to obtain Mastery of Timeways, you must reach four stacks of Knowledge of Timeways without letting it expire. Try to avoid going AFK for extended periods of time so that you don’t lose your stacks. If the duration of Knowledge of Timeways expires before it reaches four stacks, you have to start all over.
Turbulent Timeways Rewards
So you may be wondering if there is any purpose to this event other than a buff that is good for leveling alts. As a matter of fact, there are a couple of rewards that you can obtain as part of this event. First, you can purchase the Sandy Shalewing mount from Timewalking Vendors for 5,000 Timewarped Badges. This mount was the reward from the previous Turbulent Timeways event during Dragonflight.
In addition to the Sandy Shalewing returning, you can also get a new mount known as the Timely Buzzbee. To get this mount, you must gain the Mastery of Timeways buff on five of the seven weeks that Turbulent Timeways is running.
