The Chainsaw in Fortnite is a lot of fun, so obtaining it is a must for every player, at least once just to try it out. A melee-focused weapon is quite the risk, but when it means running around like Leatherface, it’s worth the risk due to the fear that it’ll provide other players with.
Where to Find the Chainsaw in Fortnite
The Chainsaw is of the Epic rarity, so it’s no surprise that this highly-demanded weapon isn’t the easiest find in the world. Luckily, there are a few spots that players should look if they want to get one for their own evil doings.
The Chainsaw can be found in random chests throughout the Battle Royale island, but if players want a guaranteed Chainsaw every game, then there are two NPCs who will sell them the weapon:
- Purchased for 300 Gold from Andy Fangerson in Grim Gate.
- Purchased for 300 Gold from Dark Ruby in Rebel’s Roost.

How to Damage Opponents with a Chainsaw (0/1,500)
Hack your way through enemies or rev your saw into the ground to propel yourself forward at frightening speeds!
The Chainsaw acts as a high-risk melee weapon that provides a decent level of damage for every attack. The Chainsaw is pretty aggressive, and each swing will deal 75 damage, while the Rush Attack allows players to rev the chainsaw into the ground to reach high speeds without consuming stamina, which is great for chasing enemies or even escaping them.
- Attack: 75 damage (R2/RT/Left-Click)
- Jump Attack: 85 damage (X/R2, A/LT, Space/Left-Click)
- Rush Attack: 85 damage (Hold L2/LT/Right-Click)
Understanding these attack methods is essential to fully utilizing the Chainsaw, and to completing the Fortnitemares 2024 quest to damage opponents with a Chainsaw for a total of 1,500 damage.
