How To Fish In Throne And Liberty
Throne and Liberty features a wide range of collectible items and materials to gather. However, there are also some life skills for players looking to enjoy the game in ways that don’t involve combat or hefty exploration. One such life skill allows for Fishing in Throne and Liberty.
Fishing in Throne and Liberty will require players to get their hands on a fishing rod and some bait. Once they have these, they can start gathering items to use for other game mechanics — such as cooking.
Updated by Chad Thesen on October 5th, 2024: This article has been updated for the purpose of adding additional information on how to fish in Throne and Liberty. This information refers to how players are able to get Bait in the game. Bait is a crucial element for fishing in the game. While the article does specify where to get it, a dedicated section at the end may be more beneficial to readers. This new section has been added to the bottom of the article as “How To Get Bait in Throne and Liberty.” This article now also mentions how players are able to get their hands on a better rod of Quality rarity and the materials they will need.
Where To Get A Fishing Rod In Throne And Liberty
Table of Contents
In order to know how to fish in Throne and Liberty, players need to get themselves a fishing rod. Fishing rods come in varying rarities, with the most common one being the Bamboo Fishing Rod. This common rarity rod can be acquired in numerous ways, but players may want to get it as soon as possible. While this Fishing Rod cannot be upgraded, it can be used as material to Craft a better rod. Players will need to collect 10 Nature’s Jade, 30 Quality Manasteel, and 30 Quality Mystwood.
Contract Coin Merchant
The first option will be just to play through the Main Story Quests until they have completed their first Contracts. Completing the game up to this section will have players set off to the Contract Coin Merchant. This is a merchant NPC who can sell players the Bamboo Fishing Rod for 300 Contract Coins. Unfortunately, this is a lot of Contract Coins for the most common of rods. Luckily, players can get this rod completely for free by talking to the NPC across the street from the Contract Coin Merchant.
Complete Adventures of the Expedition
Adventures of the Expedition is a quest you will be able to accept while in Chapter 3. You can start it by speaking with Adventure Pro Percy in Kastleton. He will give you the quest, which can be completed by visiting the Amitoi House and sending one of your Amitoi off on an expedition. Speak with him again to complete this quest and get a Bamboo Fishing Rod without spending a single coin.
Once players have a fishing rod, they will need some bait. There are many different kinds of bait, but the easiest one to get first will be Paste Bait. Players will be able to pick up a box of this bait each day from Contract Coin Merchant. Players will not be able to upgrade this rod, as they can with weapons, and will need to find better ones later in the game.
How To Fish In Throne And Liberty
Open up the Character section of the menu and look to the top left of your equipped weapons. Here you will see which rod and bait you will have equipped. You will need different choices depending on what you plan to catch. Once both slots are full, head to any coastline in the area to catch your first fish.
Cast your line into the water and wait for something to bite the line. This will cause a stamina bar to appear. Players will need to deplete this stamina bar completely in order to successfully reel in their catch. They can do this by pulling in the opposite direction of where their catch is swimming. In addition to the catch having a stamina bar, so will the player. If the player’s stamina meter is fully depleted, the catch will escape.
As players do more fishing, they will gain experience and level up their life skill. This will make it easier over time and allow them to set their gaze on more challenging fish. Caught fish can be used in conjunction with cooking. You will find cooking spots throughout the game, even back at Kastleton. Different fish will be used for different recipes, and in turn, lead to different buffs. Applying a buff before a difficult fight can be the difference between success and failure, so be sure to invest in this skill for when you need to reel in some materials.
How To Get Bait in Throne And Liberty
As mentioned above, players can part with Contract Coins to get 50 Paste Bait each day from the Contract Coin Merchant. Should players burn through all of this bait, they don’t have to stop fishing. While Paste Bait is restricted to a daily limit, there are other baits that players can get their hands on. This includes Worm Bait, Shrimp Bait, and Fish Fillet Bait.
Worm Bait can be gathered from Star Trees, which are also a source of Mystwood. Shrimp Bait will be the easiest to farm as it can be a drop from many different coastal monsters, which also have a chance to drop Salt. Lastly, there is Fish Fillet Bait, which can be found in various sacks that you will reel in while fishing.
Players can
spend Ornate Coins
in order to get some more Paste Bait, but these coins are far too valuable and should be kept for upgrading their characters’ weapons and skills. Alternatively, they can be used to get additional Amitoi and Morphs, which will come with their own benefits for collecting.
