How To Equip Two Accessories In Mario and Luigi: Brothership

Published

Each brother has his own specialties in Mario and Luigi: Brothership based on the stats they start out with and the pace at which each one grows. While both brothers will still be very effective in combat, their individual stats will continue to increase in spread as they level up, such as Luigi having a very high Stache stat.

While there are predetermined stats that will level up whenever each brother levels up, there are accessories, beans, and gear that can be used to alter the stats of whoever uses them. Accessories are great items to either alter a build or further solidify what a brother already specializes in; here’s how to equip two at once.

How To Get A Second Accessory Slot In Mario and Luigi: Brothership

When you first start the game, each brother can only equip one accessory at a time. You’re also limited to getting more accessories until you help both Billdit and Maykit. The second accessory slot will be clearly visible but is locked off until you choose the correct Rank-Up Bonus. Upon reaching level 8, you’ll get to choose your first Rank-UP bonus, with one being the second accessory slot labeled, “Gear Slot +1.”

Each brother will need to get this Rank-Up Bonus separately, as these are unique to whoever unlocks them. While other options may seem useful early on, the extra accessory slot is by far the best. The other early game options for Rank-Up Bonuses are:

  • HP Up+
  • Stache Up+
  • Quick Leveling
  • Speed Up+
  • Gear Slot +1

While other options such as Quick Leveling may seem like a good option, the additional gear slot is by far the best as other accessories can do just about every one of those Rank-Up Bonuses. As you continue to level up and hit later landmarks, you’ll also get to come back and choose from the remaining bonuses, with the next one coming at level 15.

You can get this upgrade on later different Rank-Up if you’ve already passed level 8.

While some accessories can be found through exploration and combat, the most straightforward method is by going to Billdit’s Workshop on in the center of Shapeshift Island. Here he will sell you all sorts of accessories, with you able to buy one for each brother if you want. Billdit will also get more inventory as you progress the story, and the costs for even the better options are never too far out of reach.
