Gran Turismo 7‘s update 1.52 is just around the corner, and with it comes several new additions to the racing game. The patch will be available to all players and introduces three Japanese-branded cars to Gran Turismo 7, as well as new events for World Circuits and other additions.
Gran Turismo 7 had a bumpy launch due to server issues and the announcement of microtransactions only after the reviews had already gone live. Since 2022, Polyphony Digital has released almost monthly free updates, consistently adding new content like cars, events, circuits, and other quality-of-life improvements. Previous Gran Turismo 7 updates usually add new vehicles to the game, and some even bring in circuits, such as the Eiger Nordwand circuit, which was last seen in Gran Turismo 6.
Update 1.52 for Gran Turismo 7 rolls out today for PS5 and PS4 at 11:00 PM PST, and will add three new Japanese sports cars, including the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR ’04, Nissan GT-R Premium edition T-spec ’24, and the white Toyota Hiace Van DX ’16. With this latest update, the racing game will have a total of 517 cars to choose from, an incredible feat when considering the effort required to produce new cars for Gran Turismo 7. Of these, three cars are special editions in the game.
In addition to the vehicles, the update will bring new World Circuits events: the Sunday Cup for Tokyo Expressway, the Nissan GT-R Cup for Circuit de Sainte-Croix, and the Evolution Meeting for the Kyoto Driving Park, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, and Colorado Springs circuits. The Cafe will also introduce an extra menu for Gran Turismo 7, this time a Collection: Audi, available only to collectors level 42 or higher. Other additions in the update include the AI agent Gran Turismo Sophy being featured in the Brands Hatch – Grand Prix Circuit and Dragon Trail – Seaside tracks, and Chicago being highlighted in Scapes’ featured Curation.
Polyphony Digital has provided admirable support for Gran Turismo 7, but what may genuinely transform the game’s performance and visuals is the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro. After its announcement, Sony released a list of games that would receive technical upgrades on the PS5 Pro, improving FPS, graphics, or both. One of the games set to receive upgrades on the PS5 Pro is Gran Turismo 7, with promises of 8K graphics in fidelity mode or 60 FPS with ray-traced reflections during gameplay in what will likely be performance mode.
The PS5 Pro is scheduled for release on November 7. Then, players can see whether Sony delivers on its promise to further enhance Gran Turismo 7‘s visuals without compromising performance or if it indeed provides the legendary 8K resolution.
