allow players to express their own identity through established characters like Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and Batgirl.
In the open-world superhero adventure, Gotham Knights, sixteen suit styles can be acquired throughout the game and through DLC. Some are restricted to random loot drops, and others as pre-order or deluxe edition bonuses. No matter the case, the suit styles are a great way to express the identity of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin.
Comic books inspire some suits in Gotham Knights. Others are the unique creations of Gotham Knights’ developer, Warner Bros. Montreal. The best suits in Gotham Knights are plentiful, and the way to get them varies depending on the outfit.
Updated on September 30, 2024, by Melody MacReady: Gotham Knights has celebrated over two years since it launched, and while it was not a massive hit on the same level as the Batman: Arkham franchise, it does have its fair share of fans. This is what led to the game getting free DLC in the form of new color palettes to unlock, as well as the Heroic Assault DLC modes. Whether solo or with friends online, Gotham Knights allows fans to unlock sixteen different suit styles for all four playable characters: Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin. These range from suits straight out of the comics to many original designs by Warner Bros. Montreal that can be grounded and realistic or over the top and silly.
16 Gilded Age
How To Unlock: Use The Codes From All Six Issues Of The Batman: Gotham Knights – Gilded City Comic Book (Print or Digital)
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: All issues can be found in online retailer stores or DC Universe: Infinite
The Gilded Age suit styles are exclusive to those who purchase the Batman: Gotham Knights – Gilded City comic. They are pretty unique, considering they feature the iconic and often dark characters of the Bat Family in silly and bright costumes resembling cowboys from the Old West.
These costumes look straight out of a strange Elseworld story, and they certainly do not fit in with the game’s aesthetic. However, that can be part of the fun with Gotham Knights, allowing suits that appeal to every kind of player, even the silliest of designs.
15 New Guard
How To Unlock: Default Suit Upon Starting The Game
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Start A New Game With Chosen Characters
There’s no requirement to get the New Guard suits other than just starting the game. These are the default suit styles that they wear as they find Batman dead in the destroyed Batcave and Wayne Manor, which starts the heroes on their journey. They include Robin’s long coat, Nightwing’s blue chestpiece, Batgirl’s purple outfit, and Red Hood’s brown sleeveless hoodie.
The looks for the New Guard are a healthy mix of classic and modern designs for the characters. Batgirl features pieces of her Burnside costume as well as her New 52 uniform, while Nightwing arguably has bits of every Nightwing design from the past thirty to forty years of comics.
14 Eternal
How To Unlock: Beat Mr. Freeze & Craft The Eternal Suit Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Regulators, Mob, Freaks, Court of Owls, & Watch Missions
The Eternal style outfits seem more comic book-inspired than the rest, especially when it comes to Tim Drake as Robin, who wears a cowl that covers everything but his mouth, akin to his Red Robin era. It’s much more in line with his appearance as Red Robin. The comics vastly inspire each outfit for the characters and almost bring the fantastical pages to the video game format.
Players will have to collect all the gear pieces or craft blueprints to unlock the Eternal suits. They will also have to complete Lucius Fox’s mission to gain a transmog style, which allows players to use the style on any suit, but without any customization options.
13 Knight Ops
How To Unlock: Complete All Secret Cache Side Quests
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: League of Shadows, Mob & Regulators Side Ops
If players want the Gotham Knights to feel more gritty and real, almost similar to what Robert Pattinson wears as Batman, look no further than the Knight Ops costumes. These stylized outfits are fitted for urban warfare, with an emphasis on paramilitary designs, pouches, and gear. Colors are dulled to be ready for combat, with Nightwing resembling The Winter Soldier.
Around Gotham, Batman has left secret caches. After obtaining all twelve, each Knight will receive the Knight Ops outfit. However, players will have to be patient, as each cache is exclusive to a different patrol night, and they cannot grab all twelve in one night.
12 Privateer
How To Unlock: Craft The Privateer Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Court of Owls, Mob, Regulators & Freaks Side Ops
The Privateer suit styles feature a lot of heavy overcoats, helping the Knights look closer to something seen in a pirate-themed video game. These steampunk-inspired outfits make the heroes of Gotham seem from another universe, and certainly out of time.
Once the Privateer style is unlocked by random gear drops and side operations, the player can unlock the suits. The transmog style will also be available to put on any suit if the player prefers to keep the pirate look throughout the game.
11 Neon Noir
How To Unlock: Craft The Neon Noir Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Mob & Freaks Side Ops
Unlike other superhero uniforms, the Neon Noir style is a sleek and simple design with less emphasis on armor compared to other styles in Gotham Knights. Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson feature more hip and modern hairstyles, while the suits themselves resemble leather biker gear.
Players won’t have to do much as Neon Noir is one of the easier styles to unlock and rather early in a playthrough. All it takes to unlock the suits is random gear drops from enemies and loot chests to find the right schematics.
How To Unlock: Craft The Metal Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Mob, Regulators & Freaks Side Ops
Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood may not be bulletproof, but that makes them all the stronger, knowing that they can’t get hit, otherwise it will be fatal. Luckily for the Knights, the Metal suit styles look to be entirely protective, like Iron Man armor for each character.
Since the Metal suit style is very armor-based, it is ideal for players wanting their characters to look as if they fit in the Batman: Arkham series. Red Hood even looks eerily similar to how he looked in the final boss fight against him in Batman: Arkham Knight.
9 Beyond
How To Unlock: Purchase The Deluxe / Collector’s Edition Upgrade
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Use The Transmog System
The Batman Beyond animated series is the direct inspiration for these suits, with Barbara looking closer to the Nissa version of Batgirl. Each Beyond outfit features a heavy coating of black, with the primary color of each character being the focus of their chest symbol and characters like Batgirl and Robin lacking their signature capes.
Sadly, the Beyond suit style is exclusive to the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition of Gotham Knights, with the latter being much harder to acquire. From there, players will truly feel like the cyberpunk superhero of the future inspired by Terry McGinnis.
8 Titan
Complete All Knighthood Challenges For Each Knight
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Mob & Freaks Side Ops
Each character has their Knighthood challenge. Once all four characters have completed theirs, players will obtain the Titan outfits. These costumes are a lot slicker, with armor pieces built into the suits, and the bold colors shining through to let criminals know who it is that will give them a beat down.
The name is no lie, as the Titan suits make these characters feel like Titans that watch over Gotham City, which is fitting since Batman was considered to be a manifestation of justice itself. The suits have a mix of modern and ancient esthetics, while also resembling the kind of suit Batman would wear in certain comics and adaptations.
7 Year One
How To Unlock: Find All Batarangs
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Mob & Regulators Side Ops
Year One suits in Gotham Knights feel more grounded than others, looking like the Gotham Knights built their suits out of pawn shop fodder. Characters like Robin and Red Hood wear hoodies and jackets, and Batgirl looks like she simply raided the GCPD for body armor.
Around Gotham, Batman has many batarangs from his past adventures to collect. If the player collects enough of the iconic pieces of Batman’s gadget arsenal, they can unlock the Year One suits. It’s perfect for fans who prefer a more simplistic design for superheroes rather than intricate armor and super-suits.
6 Talon
How To Unlock: Find All Talon Caches
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: 5 Talon Cache Locations
These suits are inspired by the Talon assassins led by the Court of Owls in Gotham Knights. Alfred provides players with activities, in which players need to scan murals at different locations hidden throughout Gotham City. After finding all five, they can use the Talon outfit.
The Talon suits are simplistic in design and fit each hero, but they are well-detailed to look like feathers, scaled onto the armor. Unfortunately, it is only available as a Transmog with no customization options, which is a bit disappointing since there are multiple designs for Talon enemies in the game.
5 Demon
How To Unlock: Complete Chapter 5 & Craft The Demon Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: League of Shadows & Mob Side Ops
As the name may suggest, the Demon suits are inspired by the other main villainous faction of the game: the League Of Shadows. These suits feature a range of sharpness to them, with straps and masks to conceal identities, especially Red Hood who looks like a mummified corpse, which fits with his tragic origin story.
To use this style, players will need to craft the suit in said style, to unlock each gear piece necessary. The schematics for the Demon style can be found rather easily by defeating League Of Shadows and Mob side operations while free-roaming the city of Gotham or even doing floors of the Heroic Assault mode.
4 Shinobi
How To Unlock: Complete Chapter 5 & Craft The Shinobi Style
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: League of Shadows & Mob Side Ops
There’s a heavy emphasis on Japanese culture with the Shinobi styles. The clear Japanese inspiration makes for an interesting style of clothing for the heroes of Gotham, with both Batgirl and Nightwing wearing a top-knot. Each character feels powerful and respectful of combat.
The Shinobi suit style requires patience, as they are geared drops restricted to around Case 6, near the end of the game’s story. Playing through the game will unlock the suits, and players will need to complete the challenges before them.
3 Knighthood
How To Unlock: Beat The Game With Character Of Choice
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Complete The Game With The Character Players Want The Knighthood Style For
The Knighthood suits are more in line with Batman’s imagery. They feature a heavy coating of black, with simple colors outlined around the logo of each character. These suits are restricted as a completion reward and can be obtained once the player has completed the game’s story mode.
The Knighthood style incentivizes replaying the game to unlock the suit for each respective Knight. The Knighthood suits seem to be the next evolution for Gotham Knights. The characters have embraced Batman’s death and decided to honor him with protection over Gotham, and in their attire.
2 Raider
How To Unlock: Complete The Kelvin Incident Heroic Assault
- Available For: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: The Kelvin Incident Heroic Incident
Unlocking the Raider suits is no easy task, as it requires players to complete all fifteen floors of the Heroic Assault mode, known as The Kelvin Incident. Upon defeating bosses like Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, and Clayface, the Raider suit will be available.
The design of the Raider suit style is a more rugged armored suit that makes the Gotham Knights look like they’ve been operating for years. The armor is covered with battle damage, resembling those seen in comic book movies after the movie’s final battle.
1 Knightwatch
How To Unlock: Purchase The Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition, Or Visionary Pack
- Available for: Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood
- Found At: Complete Case 1.3, Then Use The Transmog System
The Knightwatch suits are the result of Warner Bros. Montreal getting the legendary and famed DC Comics CCO, artist, and writer Jim Lee to design a set of suits for each character. Jim Lee is a legend in the comics industry and has been with DC Comics for years, which makes it no surprise that his outfits for these characters are straight from the pages.
Fans enjoyed seeing this style, with a brightly colored set of suits for each character in Gotham Knights. It remains the only suit design locked behind a paywall, as part of the Visionary Pack which is still available for $25 on all platforms.
