Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Damage Cap Increase
Key Takeaways
- The cap for Elemental and Physical damage bonuses is raised to 400%, according to a leak from the beta build of Genshin Impact.
- Certain Elemental Reactions like Superconduct are getting damage multipliers increased to improve gameplay.
- New characters in Version 5.2, like Xilonen and Furina, boost Elemental bonus damage, hinting at future META changes.
According to the latest beta build for Genshin Impact, the cap for both Physical and Elemental bonus damage is being increased from 300% to 400%, seemingly setting the stage for future characters. While Genshin Impact isn’t fond of power creep, it’s fair to say that its support characters have raised the floor overall. Old hypercarries such as Diluc have greatly benefited from newcomers such as Furina and Xianyun, while new hypercarries such as Arlecchino still have a use for Zhongli.
This gradual boost in player power can best be seen in the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact, as HoYoverse continues to increase the HP of its enemies to keep the mode’s difficulty at a stable level. Building a team has never been easier or more rewarding in Genshin Impact, and the variety of builds is set to increase even further in Version 5.2, as underwhelming Elemental Reactions such as Superconduct and Freeze will have their damage multipliers dramatically raised.

Genshin Impact Leak Reveals 4-Star Banner Characters for Version 5.2
Recent information from the Genshin Impact beta reveals which 4-Stars will accompany Ororon in Version 5.2 as the featured banner characters.
Recent information obtained via HomDGCat for Version 5.2 reveals that both Physical and Elemental bonus damage will have their limits raised from 300% to 400%. While it is extremely difficult for current teams to reach the cap, there are two plausible reasons why HoYoverse made this particular change. It could be setting the stage for Mavuika in Genshin Impact, whose ability kit may end up buffing Physical and Elemental damage over ATK. Alternatively, it could be attempting to accommodate future combat events.
Genshin Impact Damage Increases in Version 5.2
- The cap for a character’s Elemental and Physical DMG bonus is increased from 300% to 400%.
- The damage multiplier of certain Elemental Reactions has changed.
- Superconduct deals 200% increased damage.
- Shatter deals 100% increased damage.
- Electro-Charged deals 66.7% increased damage.
- Overload deals 37.5% increased damage.
Though it remains to be seen if players will be able to consistently break the old bonus damage cap with new characters, Xilonen and Furina in Genshin Impact already provide a major buff to Elemental bonus damage via their ability kits, Artifact Sets, and Signature Weapon. Furthermore, this buff is increased by 50% for Xilonen in Geo teams via her second Constellation. By raising the bonus damage cap and buffing certain Elemental Reactions, HoYoverse seems to be preparing for the future of Genshin Impact with Version 5.2.
Upcoming Genshin Impact characters will no doubt attempt to open up new playstyles, the same way Nilou provides a unique take on Bloom or how Navia evolved Crystallize in Version 4.3. While Citlali is rumored to be a Shield Support and Ororon is made with Electro-Charged in mind, the new changes open the door for a Superconduct character to establish their own niche in the meta. Genshin Impact Version 5.2 is scheduled to launch on November 20, 2024.
