Fortnite Brings Back Iconic Item to OG Game Mode
Summary
Table of Contents
- Fortnite OG game mode returns with the essence of Chapter 1, including OG sound effects and a double pump.
- The Bush item, a Legendary-rarity in-game item that camouflages players, will be added in the upcoming update.
- The Bush blocks the first hit, protecting players, even if they don’t want to hide as a bush.
Fortnite‘s Legendary Bush item is returning to the OG game mode once the next update drops. Ever since Chapter 1 ended and Athena Island was replaced with Apollo Island, players have been asking Epic Games to add a second map to Fortnite featuring the OG Battle Royale island. Epic has tried out various options, such as Fortnite Season OG and allowing gamers to make their own custom Chapter 1 islands in Creative mode, but it just didn’t feel the same.
Now, over five years since the end of Chapter 1, fans finally got what they wished for: a permanent Fortnite OG game mode. Unlike the seasonal version, Fortnite OG works almost exactly like the real thing. Except for the more recent parkour moves, which had to be included, so players in Zero Build could access certain areas of the map, this game mode has the real essence of Chapter 1. There are no small shields, gamers can stack up to 3,000 mats, OG sound effects are back, and double pump has returned to Fortnite.

There are a lot of reasons to feel nostalgic when playing Fortnite OG, and as time goes by, more iconic items will be added to this game mode. According to the in-game news feed, the Bush will return with the next Fortnite update, patch v33.11. Although Epic Games has not announced the release time for the update, reliable leaks in the community believe that it should drop on December 18, a few days before the start of the Winterfest event.
Fortnite Bush Item Release Time
- Downtime for v33.11 is expected to start at about 4 AM ET on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and the Bush should become available once servers are back up
For those who have not tried out the Bush in-game, it is an item that screams “classic Fortnite” due to its unique quirkiness. When players equip the Bush item in Fortnite, their character will wear it, camouflaging their appearance, as it looks similar to the bushes that grow around the Battle Royale island. It’s easy to go unnoticed while wearing the item because gamers oftentimes don’t inspect all the bushes in the environment.
There is one reason in particular why the Bush is a Legendary-rarity item in Fortnite, it blocks the first hit that players receive after equipping it. Even if gamers don’t want to hide as a bush, they should always equip it to protect themselves. Shotguns and snipers can do a fair bit of damage in Fortnite, but if the player is wearing the Bush when a shot connects, the Bush will be destroyed, but their health and shields will remain untouched.
