A brand-new Hero, the fearsome Mongolian Khatun, is coming to For Honor later this week. Ubisoft has just revealed the identity of the second new character introduced in For Honor’s The Serpent Sword update.
For Honor began a new season on December 5, with the Y8S4 update heralding the finale to the 2017 medieval multiplayer game’s eighth year of updates. The Serpent Sword update included a new Hero, original cosmetics and customization, and a new 100-tier battle pass, along with an additional legacy pass offering exclusive access to older Year 4 content retrofitted for newer fighters. For Honor players were introduced to the cunning Wu Lin strategist and wielder of legendary Starfall Sword, General Zhi, as a new Zhanhu Hero Skin. Gamers also gained access to the new Sohei Hero, a warrior monk with mastery over seven weapons and a varied addition to a title boasting some of the best medieval combat in gaming.

Just over a month later, Ubisoft has given For Honor fans even more to look forward to. In an IGN exclusive reveal, Ubisoft has teased the latest lethal Hero character who will soon be added to the ranks of For Honor’s 35 existing fighters. Wielding fearsome Turoc-Mongol sabers, the Mongolian Khatun will join the fray alongside For Honor‘s other formidable female fighters on January 23.
Mongolian Khatun Revealed as New For Honor Character Coming on January 23
Historically, the term “Khatun” designated the female equivalent of Mongolian Khan or Turkic Khagan, although the title survived in its Turkish form well into the later Ottoman Empire. In For Honor, players can likely expect the Khatun to strike down enemies with nimble efficiency, delivering lightning-fast blows with her dual-wielded sabers. The Khatun also represents a return to the game’s more historical aesthetic after a brief departure into the realms of science fiction during the recent Destiny 2 Halloween crossover event.
With regular patches and updates, Ubisoft has remained committed to keeping one of the best medieval PvP fighting games alive. December’s Serpent Sword update saw For Honor hit an 8,735 peak player count on Steam, almost double that of the previous month. For now, the game boasts a dedicated player base, although many fans believe that a For Honor sequel is well overdue. Despite the steep learning curve, new players shouldn’t be afraid to jump into For Honor‘s frenetic and tactical skirmishes, especially with an upcoming free play week to celebrate the Khatun hero’s release running from January 23 to January 30 on Xbox and PlayStation. Gamers can learn more about For Honor’s latest fighter during the Warrior’s Den at 12pm EST on January 22.
