Key Takeaways

  • Crossroads in Patch 7.1 introduces new housing features and Alliance Raids to Final Fantasy 14
  • Chaotic Alliance Raids will offer challenging boss fights for 24 players in Final Fantasy 14.
  • Patch 7.1 brings a new Ultimate, Futures Rewritten, and quality-of-life changes.

Crossroads, the first content patch of Dawntrail, is set to introduce a major housing feature and a new content type to Final Fantasy 14. While it had a famously tumultuous launch, Final Fantasy 14 has steadily risen over the years and established itself as one of the best MMOs on the market. Shadowbringers brought many new players to the game, and Endwalker doubled the subscriber count during its release. While Dawntrail had a mixed reception in terms of its narrative, Final Fantasy 14 continues to be popular, and players have praised the new content introduced by the expansion.

Notably, the Arcadion raid in Final Fantasy 14 has become a favorite in the community, especially its second boss, Honey B. Lovely. While the Arcadion will only release its second wing in Patch 7.2, players can expect to see the first Alliance Raid for Dawntrail in Crossroads. Known as Echoes of Vana’diel, the new Alliance Raid series was teased prior to Dawntrail‘s launch, and will be a homage to Final Fantasy 11. Patch 7.1 will take players to Jeuno for the first Alliance Raid, but that’s hardly all that Crossroads will offer.

Slated for launch in November 2024 (either on November 12 or November 19), Patch 7.1 for Final Fantasy 14 will also introduce a new type of battle content – Chaotic Alliance Raids. Described as a difficulty between Extreme Trials and Savage Raids in Final Fantasy 14, Chaotic is designed with 24 players in mind, and will reinvent boss fights from old Alliance Raids as true endgame content. The first Chaotic Alliance Raid will feature the Cloud of Darkness as its sole encounter, and will demand a new level of cooperation from Final Fantasy 14 players.

Final Fantasy 14 Adds New Alliance Raid Content and Housing Changes in Patch 7.1

In addition to the Chaotic Alliance Raid, Final Fantasy 14 players in search of a challenge can look forward to the new Ultimate, Futures Rewritten, which will be themed around the Eden Raids and will feature Ryne. The new Unreal trial will kick off with the Four Lords from Stormblood, with Byakko as the featured boss of Patch 7.1. However, perhaps the most exciting part of Crossroads happens to be the new quality-of-life changes added to Final Fantasy 14 and its housing system.

Starting from Patch 7.1, players will be able to change the interior design of their house in Final Fantasy 14, and even remove the infamous columns that the default designs have. To support this new system, Square Enix will be adding new interior designs over time, and future updates to Final Fantasy 14 will also allow players to expand the size of their housing interior for a considerable sum of gil.

Patch 7.1 will also feature new Allied Society quests, the first part of Dawntrail‘s Hildibrand Adventures, new Custom Deliveries in Shaaloani, the Extreme Trial for Sphene, and extensive updates to all PvP jobs outside Pictomancer and Viper. Notably, the developers stated that PvP jobs in Final Fantasy 14 will feel much different from their PvE counterparts.
