Every Type Of Poke Ball In Pokemon GO & What They Do
Poke balls in Pokemon GO are vital tools that trainers will need to build up their team. These balls act as both capture devices and homes that hold caught Pokemon. There are currently 5 different types in the game, but only 3 are usable in most situations.
To use a Poke ball for catching new allies in Pokemon GO, trainers will need to fling them at pocket monsters that appear on their screen in encounters of various kinds. One’s aim will affect a Poke ball’s catch rate, however, they still have their innate individual catch rate stats.
Poke Ball
Table of Contents
The regular red and white Poke Ball is the most basic in Pokemon GO. Initially, players are given 50 of these when they begin the game on a new account, and, additionally, Poke Balls are rewarded by leveling up until the trainer reaches level 11.
Great Ball
Notable for its blue top-half with the red tabs, this is the next step-up from the regular Poke Balls. Pokemon GO Great Ballsincrease the potential to capture a wild Pokemon by 50%. After a trainer reaches level 12, they will receive 20 Great Balls as a gift. Furthermore, they will unlock the ability to get them from spinning Photo Discs and by other means. Players also receive Great Balls upon each level up to until they reach level 19.
Ultra Ball
The optimal device for catching Pokemon, the yellow and black Ultra Ball doubles the chance of catching a new Pokemon, almost guaranteeing the capture. Upon reaching level 20, players will be gifted 20 Ultra Balls for simply playing the game. They are also unlocked as a reward for spinning Photo Discs and more. Trainers receive them as level-up bonuses until they reach level 40.
Master Ball
Master Ball made its Pokemon GO debut as a reward for completing the Let’s GO Special Research quest. The only way to acquire a Master Ball is by completing featured Seasonal, Timed, or Special Research quests. Since players rarely get a Master Ball and it has a 100% catch rate, they should use it wisely. The most beneficial Pokemon to use upon must be monsters like High IV Legendaries after a raid, extremely rare wild spawns, rare Legendary Shiny Pokemon, and more.
Premier Ball
The Pokemon GO Premier Ball stands out as the only kind of Poke ball without an in-game description that gives the player some lore beyond what is known about it in the main series games. It is useful in Raid Challenges to catch Raid Bosses and Shadow Pokemon after winning against the Team GO Rocket but is only unlocked after level 5.
Premier Balls have the same catch rate as regular Poke Balls, though, they cannot be stored in a trainers bag and disappear after a Raid Challenge. Players will get Premier Balls in a Raid Challenge depending on their performance, with trainers that contribute more receiving more.
