Every Monthly Game Added To PS Plus
Sony launched the new era of PlayStation Plus in June 2022, combining the previous version with PS Now. Although the latter subscription service was around for a long time, PS Now struggled to get over its early negative reputation, so a revamp was needed to wipe the slate clean.
PS Plus is split into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Essential unlocks PlayStation’s online features along with providing a couple of free monthly games. Along with Essential’s offerings, Extra grants access to hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games; meanwhile, Premium extends the lineup to include older consoles. Each month, Sony adds a bunch of new PS Plus games to each tier, including first-party exclusives, third-party juggernauts, and indie darlings. Some months are better than others, but they all tend to include a couple of standouts. What are all the monthly games that have been added to PS Plus?

Sony’s PS Plus Essential tier is ringing in the new year with a fairly mixed lineup that features one of 2024’s most divisive games, along with two titles that might not be extremely exciting on paper. That said, all three projects have something to offer, even if they were not on everyone’s wishlists.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is positioned as Essential’s big free PS Plus game for January 2025. In theory, the addition of a project by Rocksteady that is less than a year old should feel huge; in practice, that is not the case. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had a terrible launch that saw it garner, at best, a middling reception, and it faded from the public consciousness quickly. By the end of 2024, the game could be purchased on Steam for like $5, which is an almost unprecedented decline in value.
Still, the title should be fine enough for anyone craving an easy-going third-person shooter set in an open-world environment, especially if they also want co-op. While missions are quite repetitive, the core gameplay can be fun for a few hours, and the characters have decent banter. If nothing more, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is worth a try.
January 2025’s other games are Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. The former is a good option to throw on when someone just feels like doing a few quick races. Meanwhile, the latter is straight-up brilliant, and the Ultra Deluxe version has more to offer than just heightened visuals.

Best Single-Player PS5 Games, Ranked
The best single-player games on the PlayStation 5 are typically narrative-driven affairs, built around compelling characters and fantastic storylines.
- 1-Month Price: $14.99
- 3-Month Price: $39.99
- 12-Month Price: $134.99
PS Plus Extra includes a catalog featuring hundreds of games. Extra focuses exclusively on PS5 and PS4 titles, and each month expands the existing library with roughly 10 to 20 new additions. Unlike Essential, PS Plus Extra’s games are available indefinitely, although some could be removed after spending a few months on the service.
Sony’s final PS Plus Extra lineup for 2024 is pretty decent and features two divisive projects ideal for a subscription service. Sonic Frontiers garnered a relatively positive reception, but it is still one of those titles that most people seem to love or struggle to tolerate. The open-world format did not seem like a great fit for Sonic the Hedgehog, which has traditionally excelled in linear level design that rewards quick reflexes rather than exploration, but the final product does an OK job of making the transition feel relatively smooth.
The other divisive PS Plus Extra December 2024 game also takes place within an open-world. Square Enix’s Forspoken garnered quite a lot of derision upon its initial release, with criticism targeting the protagonist, story, and fairly uninspired world. That said, the gameplay can be fun and improves as the campaign moves along. For all its negatives, Forspoken is worth a try while available on Sony’s service.

GTA 5: Best Ways To Make Money In The Story Mode
The best way to make money in Grand Theft Auto 5’s Story Mode comes in more than a few adrenaline-fueled ways.
The rest of the month’s lineup consists of niche and indie projects, although the quality is consistently high. Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a pretty great management sim, and WRC Generations should be fun for rally racing fans. F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is an awesome side-scrolling Metroidvania, and A Space for the Unbound and Coffee Talk prioritize storytelling. Co-op fans can also check out Biped and PHOGS.

Best PS5 Games On PlayStation Plus Extra & Premium
Sony’s PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers have hundreds of titles, including some of the best PlayStation 5 games.
All Classic Games That Were Added To PS Plus Premium
Upcoming Month: December 2024 PS Plus Premium (Starting From December 10)
- 1-Month Price: $17.99/month
- 3-Month Price: $49.99
- 12-Month Price: $159.99
PS Plus Premium includes everything available on Sony’s service. Along with Essential and Extra’s games and benefits, this tier includes a classic catalog of PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games, along with some PS4 remasters. Premium’s monthly additions have been inconsistent so far, and it is not unusual for a month to go by with barely any classic additions to the tier.
Although most lineups contain only a handful of classics, PS Plus Premium has been steadily enhancing its old-school library, particularly when it comes to PSP and PS1 releases. The games might not all be bona fide masterpieces, but the selection covers both well-known and obscure properties. Starting from June 2024, Sony has begun to add PS VR2 games to PS Plus Premium.
To celebrate PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary in December 2024, Sony announced three PS2 classics ahead of time: Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.
While these three games were on PS Plus Premium in the form of PS3/PS4 remasters, the upcoming arrivals are the PS2 versions. This is an especially big deal for the Sly games, as the PS3 trilogy can only be streamed on PS Plus.
Subscribers who also have a PS VR2 can check out Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, which is also part of the December 2024 Premium lineup.
