Elden Ring: Where To Get Shard Of Alexander Or Warrior Jar Shard
NPCs can be found throughout the world of Elden Ring and will have their own unique side quests going alongside the player’s main quest. By helping the NPCs out, their stories will progress, and they will move to new locations often leading to new content to engage with.
One of the more recognizable characters in the game is Alexander, the Warrior Jar. This character has their own quest line, but players can also choose between completing the quest line and obtaining the Shard of Alexander or getting the Warrior Jar Shard much earlier.

Updated on October 11, 2024, by Mehrdad Khayyat: Iron Fist Alexander is one of the most beloved NPCs in Elden Ring, although the end of his questline is not a happy one for either him or the Tarnished. That being said, the NPC holds access to two different talismans that could benefit players a lot in their fights against bosses.
Both talismans boost the attack of power of skills but with different scales. The better version of the talisman can only be obtained after finishing the questline, and that won’t be possible until near the endgame. However, the talisman’s base version could be earned quite earlier in Limgrave.
How To Get The Warrior Jar Shard In Elden Ring
The Warrior Jar Shard can be obtained at any point in the game by finding and killing Alexander the Iron Fist. This of course will keep players from finishing his quest line or getting the Shard Of Alexander. The first place players can find Alexander is in Limgrave starting at the Saintsbridge Site Of Grace.
Head back west up the road but look along the left side to see a cliff that can be climbed, with Alexander stuck in the dirt at the stop. Players will need to free him first before he can be fought and killed. If Alexander is not there, players will need to find where he is during his quest line in their game and kill him.
How To Get The Shard Of Alexander In Elden Ring
The Shard Of Alexander is also obtained by killing Alexander, but this time at the end of his quest line. Players will need to complete all of Alexander’s quest line in Elden Ring which will end with a much more difficult fight than if he was fought earlier in the game. After he is defeated, he will drop the Shard of Alexander, along with another key item that is tied to his quest line.

Is The Warrior Jar Shard Or Shard Of Alexander Better?
Warrior Jar Shard |
Shard Of Alexander |
---|---|
Boosts the attack power of skills. |
Greatly boosts the attack power of skills. |
Both of these items are Talismen that boost the damage of weapon skills. The Shard of Alexander offers a higher boost to weapon skill damage but is only obtained much later in the game, towards the end. The Warrior Jar Shard can be found very early in the game, and fighting Alexander so early won’t pose much of a challenge. The Warrior Jar Shard Talisman is a great boost early in the game and can make Ashes of War deadly against the weaker enemies of Limgrave.
Other items are obtained throughout Alexander’s quest line, but the best only benefits those who utilize pot consumables, such as Sleeping Pots in Elden Ring. There are lots of powerful Talisman to perfect an endgame build, and players not worrying about seeing Alexander’s story should get the Warrior Jar Shard as they will get more use of it throughout the game. Players who are looking to perfect an endgame build should be more patient and complete Alexander’s quest line to get the Shard of Alexander to take advantage of a slight improvement it offers.
